A new attempt at a modern mill, this time an esper control build.Suggestions are welcome!
The idea is to protect yourself until you can get Frayin Sanity out, and then drop your big mill spells to utterly wipe out your deck.White is in there purely for the sideboard options.

NOTE: Set by owner when deck was made.
Having both leylines is a bonus.ensnaring bridge will be devastated by you having 15 cards costing 3+ (never expect that trap is free)You will be owned by aggro if you go that way, so you need some way out of it. Having collective brutality in sideboard will allow you to both replace some 3cc and to reduce your hand at a needed time.surgical extraction should be sideboard as it technically does not mill, so it doesn't help fraying.get mind funeral to replace mind grind as soon as you can.

... I probably should have paid more attention to my curve... Didn't even look at it till now... I still feel like ensnaring bridge is going to be pretty powerful, especially with mills ability to dump its hand, as I've noticed it does...Surgical extraction is ment to help the control aspect of the deck. You want to use it to pick apart whatever their gameplan is so that the rest of your control is as powerful as possible.(I totally messed up, I ment to have funeral in there, got confused for grind. Thanks for pointing it out.)
Mind a, mind b, it's easy to make mistakes when a program spells out stuff for you :D
Surgical can extract fetchlands which makes mind funeral better and it can stop combodecks. I would keep it main for that reason.
There are so many decks where pulling out the right card utterly shuts down the deck. The only problem is now I have to get good at naming that card in the first game.
I think you should add some Counterspell, Negate to prevent Stubborn Denial and Kolaghan's Command to destroy the bridge.Surgical Extraction sideboard and Fatal Push in to stop Affinity and Death's ShadowMaybe Serum Vision in for scry and find Ensnaring Bridge earlier.Gurmag Angler (max 2) and Inquisition of Kozilek (max 3) could be of great help to stop your opponents creatures and countersSIDEBOARD: Maybe Grafdigger's Cage (only 1) in sideboard for Snapcaster Mage instead of Disenchant. The Leyline are strong but i think only 2 copies in sideboard is enough.
SO MARO90 is right on defending the bridge as well as getting to it early by search.
I agree on defending the Bridge, but I just can't find room for it. I can't cut any mill on the off chance we don't get our Fraying, and I think all the control in there is crucial to have. And the sideboard is tailored to fix the deck against matchups that we might not beat already, so it doesn't have much wiggle-room.I feel Serum Visions has a better counterpart in Visions in this deck.I did take your suggestion for Grafdiggers in the sidebaord, but I cut one of the black leylines instead, for this reason: Disenchant is in there to stop a Blood Moon, which would totally and utterly screw this deck. So if you think they sideboarded Blood Moon, you best get Disenchant. The reason I cut the Leyline is because that leyline kind of screws over Fraying and Surgical, so we want to use it as little as possible, but it's still crucial for decks like dredge.
Disenchant should be coming in game 2 whenever you think your opponent is bringing in Leyline of Sanctity. Which shuts you down just as hard as Blood Moon if not more.
Ooh, okay, yeah, that's probably more important.
Mesmeric Orb will mill a lot more then the Minister will. I also agree that having the Surgicals in the main is necessary. Not only as graveyard hate but hitting Ad Nauseum, Scapeshift, Past in Flames etc.. proves to win games.Never forget that Fraying and Void are a non-bo. That said Void is to good against dredge and Emrakul not to have. I've often thought of using Ensnaring Bridge in my build but never got around to testing with it. Mainly because I don't own them. (yet)Well good luck with your milling strategy. Happy Casting.
Yeah, especially with not having Aether Hub to give another activation, Mesmeric is better. Switched it.I totally did not realize that. I appreciate the note, that would have been unfortunate to discover during gameplay.I'm interested to see how it goes, thanks for the feedback!
I use paperstrips to measure the performance of all Cards during testgames.3 out of 4 times mesmeric orb only mills 5-6 Cards which is the same and sometimes a Little worse than the minister. The minister can block, and in a few games may actually be an attacker (Important against sun&moon)I've also tested pro-designs this way before and the numbers always turn out to be the same.(At the moment I'm testing the old Esper design of _godika, with some new Cards added)My tests with esper at the moment would recommend you cut:1 hedron crab1 visions of beyond3 mesmeric orbthis would allow you to add 5 Cards.1 settle the wreckage 4 snapcasterI can also say the new "ghostquarter" is actually quite nice, as YOU get a replaced land so ghostquarter won't run you Down.I can also recommend that you try out 2 boseiju in sideboard...
Might look into Darkness and Breaking//Entering
