Deck Description

The idea is to take the strengths from both the Izzet and Dimir control decks without any of their weaknesses. Red gives us cheap removal that does not necessitate the loss of 4 life and an instant speed boardwipe that deals with 2 toughness creatures for only one colored mana, but no edicts or lifegain or 0 mana removal. What Black lacks, Red provides and vice versa. The only price you pay for running both is a one more etb tapped land and the possibility of getting color-screwed. Is this worth it? Maybe. But I like Grixis.

How to Play

Trade 1-1 while wearing the crown or ride a mystic to victory.
The deck is very Jund-like in its gameplay and matchup spread alike. The sideboard, however, is geared at just working well in leagues with very specific answers to very common decks.

All that said, Dimir Control, whether with Terror or with Spellstutter is probably just bettter (and a bad matchup for this deck).

Extract a Confession is present just because I abhor bogles, but the card is also great against Terror and Chrysalis decks.

Deck discussion for Pauper Grixis Control V3

Maybe Thermo-Alchemist over the Mystic because of the 18 lands (5 of which hit tapped)? Obviously both are balanced completely differently, but 4-drop scares me a bit in this build, even with the fun draw stuff/island cycling.

16-18 lands is kind of the standard for decks like this in Pauper. Lórien Revealed means 18 = 22 to start, and then 8 cantrips make it so that 22 is enough to hit 4 drops on curve most of the time.

The way to think about the format is that you can't Show and Tell an Emrakul or shit out a Primeval Titan or The One Ring so games last longer and are more grindy because the power ceiling of any one individual play/card is lower. As a result you want to minimize flooding as much as possible.
