Deck Description

My attempt at making Sneaky Snacker viable in Pauper.

There is an argument to be made for playing the card in a control shell, with no self-mill, and with Mystics and Thorns. However, I have found this sub-optimal as it is essentially an exercise in fence sitting. It does not commit fully to the power of Snacker and Terror, nor does it commit fully to hunkering down behind an army of birds while wearing the crown. Moreover, the speed at which the cantrips in this deck allow us to tear through our library greatly increase the odds of finding multiple snackers.

Essentially, casting a Brainstorm brings back one Snacker just as easily as it brings back three of them, so increasing the speed at which we draw and mill into more copies is optimal for maximizing the strength of the card.

The greater the velocity at which we are able to go thought our deck at, the better snackers (and also terrors) are. Thus if you want to play a slower Terror deck, Izzet is the way to go, as much as it pains me to say this.

Lastly, it is also the case that our opponents' desire to remove our graveyard will greatly outstrip their ability to do so as 6 instants and or sorceries, deep analysis, and snacker(s) are all good reasons to pull the trigger on that spellbomb.

How to Play

You want to turbo out Tarmo... I mean Terrors and to then protect them. Should this fail, the long game is rather kind to us with Deep Analyses and Snakcers abound.

The sideboard is optimized for leagues, where an extra fangs makes short work of Rakdos and Mono Red, while Extract a Confession deals with bogles and helps you fight Gruul.

Deck discussion for Pauper Dimir Tempo

Seems like Deep Analysis is kinda risky with the curve/tapped lands, even if the goal is to selfmill it and then fulfill the Snacker requirement in one go. Wouldn't a Ponder be better? It won't trip the Snacker directly, but it helps with everything else and gets you half way to Snacker in a turn (with so many other targets available). I know nothing about Pauper, just thinking out loud.

I have lost some games due to having 2 deep anlyses in hand and 3 lands in play, that is true. But with 4 brainstorm to get rid of it, 8 ways to mill it, and 4 ways to discard it, the cost of running the card is outweighed by the benefit. It does allow you to shift gears and have a lot of staying power in the mid to late game, which I find valuable enough to keep playing the card as a 3x, though a lot of builds only run 2 for the exact reasons you outlined.

The math for certain is on your side, and I love it as a Careful Study target. Good point
