I have been resisting playing Augur in this deck for long enough, so now, in place of Prohibit, Agony Warp, and Capsize I give to thee a new Teachings deck with creatures! But the real deal is Devious Cover-Up, making our deck literally endless - much like the suffering of our opponents. I will say however that my doubts as to the ability of this deck to not time out, be that IRL or on MTGO is questionable at best.A playset of Exclude is also new, given that our turn 2 will be spent casting a blocker about 60% of the time, it would also be nice to follow that up with a 2for1 counterspell almost 70% of the time. And yes, I am fully aware that the deck would be made much better with the addition of Skred, Terminate and Red in general. But due the fact that this strange, Snowy Teachings in UBRG colors is a recognized, popular deck - due to this fact alone - I won't be playing it.
The goal is fairly obvious from the sheer lack of real win conditions; grind them to dust. This is one of the slowest, most value oriented decks in the format, always has been. The goal is to trade 1for1 - and occasionally 2for1 - with the opponent until we're fairly low on life and have stabilized (life is a resource this deck is very well aware of, and uses often). From this point on we assemble either Evincar's+2 Talismans or 2 Cover-ups and start winning by more and more each turn.Getting there is a wee bit more interesting, as the deck is 100% reactive in nature, even our win conditions are reactive. This is the most hardcore control there is, which is why I adore it so much. Building and playing it can be - and almost always is - very tricky, but also very rewarding once you stop losing games to yourself.
