So then, after being a strong advocate AGAINST going beyond the boundaries of golgari when it came to TE decks, the meta shifts have finally convinced me to soften my heart and open my mind and embrace a new time in which going 3 color is not only justifiable, but also the best choice seeing as how the meta is no longer filled with MBC-type decks. The deck, as all TE decks, is a super grindy deck that requires these to function, dooming it to forever remain below the top tiers of the meta. The decks has a few issues as it needs:1. A TE at all times (almost),2. A yard with at least some answers to the current situation3. To live to set up 1 and 24. To re-setup 1 and 2 after being hated on in games 2 and 3This was simply put lackluster because even the best and most consistent of TE decks had very little chance against flyers, super fast decks, elves even. And sure, you could always maindeck cards to deal with an archetype or two with eg. Spore Frog or 3 maindeck Crypt Rats and 4 maindeck Fume Spitters but the fact of the matter remained that golgari TE was losing ground with some decks even going over it, something that should never, ever happen to a deck that doesn't need to draw, it just needs to live and then the cards will come themselvesThough that can be blamed on how idiotically built many of the decks were and to this day are.
Now, what you do is you simply survive until you get TE, then survive until you drastically turn the corner and win via either a Crypt Rats boardwipe, Grave Scrabbler army, Spore Frog being unbeatable in game 1 or through outgrinding them. The deck is very skill intensive, from deckbuilding to mulliganing to planning 3 turns ahead to winning on time. And this is my first take at an Abzan build so it might have flaws but I will be sure to post results once I get some.
