Deck Description

Budget version here: http://www.mtgvault.com/theswarmer/decks/another-budgetish-black-pox/

Shit worth talking about:
Accursed Witch: One of the more questionable cards it is here because, well this is my pet deck and I just love this card. As for the actual purpose, it is here to win the game, very, VERY slowly but effectively. It can negate the drawback of arena or visitor and it can take an abrupt decay or an enchantment hate spell instead of lili or any of your win conditions, or even arena.
I CUT HER

Asylum Visitor: I just wanted to test this one out, it's basically a 2nd arena.
The ups are simple, it is also a win conditon, it can block and when both players have an empty hand it will draw 2 cards or force your opponent to keep cards in hand, risking you having or drawing a discard spell and risking Descent into Madness. killing them.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet: No explanation needed here, it wins games, gives life and is basically a planeswalker.

Consuming Vapors: It was between this, barter in blood or damnation, I chose this. It is also the only card that benefits from Accursed Witch's other side, not that that is any good 99,3% of the time. It's a 2 for 1 and life, that's all you need.

Inquisition of Kozilek: is Inquisition of Kozilek, a very good discard spell that doesn't cost life and gives information.

Raven's Crime: This does 3 things, it bugs them, the sight of this card in your graveyard is something that will make them thik twice before every pass.
It makes mana floods winable and it is a turn 1 play, all great stuff.

Smallpox: A symmetrical effect.... Yeah, like those were ever fair. This is a bloody 3 for 1. Though the more gy centered pox deck make much greater use of this card you still have enough stuff to discard and no creatures to sac, 25 lands and well, not any life to spare. Yes that 1 life is often the biggest probem for your deck and that's saying a lot.

Wrench Mind: Not Hymn but a 2 for 1 non the less.

Grim Harvest: An additional copy of whatever creature you already drew or something you just discard and maybe use later, this is a 10/10 card in this deck and the consistancy it gives to your threats is amazing.

Victim of Night and Murderous Cut: Removal, plain and simple.

Liliana of the Veil: This deck needs 3 things:
Removal
Discard
Threats with some inevitability to them

SHE IS ALL 3!!!

Ob Nixilis Reignited: A bit worse than lili but he can also win games and draw cards, both things you need.

Haunted Plate Mail: not sure if running 2 is a good idea but this sure is good here. The reson is that it is immune to abrupt decay and to bolt and is only targetable during your turn.

Descent into Madness: no reason to run this, it's just a favorite of mine. This shitty stacks is here because if you are ahead or even on board you win. It also adds an amazing strategy component to the game if drawn. What you can do is exile everything except for your platemail or lili and a land and win. Another thing is that with this + all the 2 for 1s in your deck you will almost always want to topdeck this, and when you do you might very well win.

Phyrexian Arena: Draw, this is a card that just puts you ahead. The life loss does suck and can kill you

Blighted Fen: land and removal, if the game goes long you will earn an enormous appreciation for the card.

Dakmor Salvage: Raven's crime and Smallpox

Mutavault: A win condition, while not Mfactory it is still good enough.

Urborg: DOUBLE BLACK.

How to Play

I have proxied a budget dredgevine deck, golgari loam pox and this for modern, and because my meta is so extremly small and condense I chose to build towards this or any other mono black deck that arises till I can get a playset of lili of the veil.

I always loved balck control decks, especially ones without blue in them and this, this is just a dream come true for me. Though I have not played a single game with it yet :D

Though I think this is obvious this, the deck takes a lot from the legacy version of pox, however I chose to ditch all the LD becasue if they don't have a hand nor a board they don't really have a use for the ladns.
Rain of tears just aint sinkhole and tec edge just aint wasteland. It's bad in modern and something I believe the deck doesn't need. Also if you have seen legacy pox preform you'll know that often they do make it so their opponents are at 0 lands for 2-4 turns, but in that time they do nothing that puts them ahead, not consistantly anyway, and you can't guarantee a lili all the time.

Deck discussion for Modern Black Pox

Some additions to this that I can think of would be Bloodghast as a threat, if you want to keep going with Descent Of Madness, one card I think worth considering would be Eternal Scourge, as it would be very effective way to gain value out of the exile clause. Tough part would be to get him from Graveyard to Exile, perhaps stuff along the lines of Bojuka Bog or Relics Of Progenitus.

Other then that I think the only logical option would be to go into Green and try to build the list similar to the G/B Death Cloud lists, using ramp cards like Search For Tomorrow and Sakura Tribe-Elder as ways to ramp into massive Death Clouds to just cripple people, while leaving you with some lands and creatures (Preferably "Sticky" ones, Bloodghasts, Kitchen Finks, Thragtusk, etc) The former two creatures feel extremely disgusting when recurred with Grim Harvest.

Thank you, I forgot about the Eternal Scourge, murderous cut is going in as well though what should I cut for Eternal Scourge?

If you do go with Scourge, I would increase the number of Descent Into Madness, as it would slowly turn into a lock. But trying to resolve a 5 cmc Enchantment may be tough, green for ramp might be the answer there.

Stuff you could trim to fit him in I think would be Asylum Visitor, Raven's Crime (Would be good if you had Loam, and even then it would probably only need to be a 1x), Consuming Vapors seems a bit expensive for the effect.

Believe it or not, I have already posted on your BG Loam list, about a year ago.

Planned ahead perfectly.
