So, you are probably asking yourself:Why golgari?WHY golgari?WHY NO RED? WHY NO LOOTING!?And the answer is as simple as it gets; moneyAnd smallpox to some extent but mostly moneyShit worth talking about:Just look it up, really, they have an inside the deck on this, there is a primer or two...Well, now that Neonate is a thing I think I'll just have to pay the extra 100€! There is no way in the world that you justify not having such good turn one plays.Still, it's cheaper and that was the whole point.AN ALTERNATIVE: http://www.mtgvault.com/theswarmer/decks/budgetish-golgari-dredgevine-4/Much worse against gy hate and overall just an experiment.JUND VERSION: http://www.mtgvault.com/theswarmer/decks/ideal-jund-dredgevine/
So, in case you are hellbent on paying a gy deck in modern like me and you earn little to no money you might not want to buy 10 fetches and 10 shocks. This is the sole reason behind the deck.....and smallpox. Yeah I love the card! SO WHAT! I ain't addicted!*cough* don't look at my last few decks *cough*It is a slower version that is trying to be a CHEAPER, more consistant deck with fewer bad matchups. The main weakness, beyond gy hate of course, is Wilt-Leaf Liege and Loxodon Smiter. You will have an extremly hard time beating a deck that has these in high numbers. Besides that it will mainly be your draws that will screw you over. One last thing, smallpox, yes smallpox again! aslo buys you A LOT of time here by setting the game back a turn. With smallpox you are doing basically the same thing that looting does, except in a different way. Instead of racing ahead you slow both players down AND develop your gy at the same time, making a turn 5 "go-off" turn become a turn 3-4 "go-off" turn due to the game being set back by pox. This means that it is kinda a timewalk... ok not really but.....smallpox!
