This deck is a clone of Budget Skaab Ruinator Deck 2.0 by TheSwarmer.http://www.mtgvault.com/theswarmer/decks/budget-skaab-ruinator-deck-20/Yeah, yeah, yeah! It's another attempt at Skaab Ruinator for basically no money in modern!Shit worth talking about:Skaab Ruinator: A 3 mana flying goyf, A 3 MANA FLYING GOYF! a 3!!!! MANA!!!! FLYING!!!! GOYFFFFF!!!!! Ok not really but:1. He can be played on curve very often thanks to Ideas Unbound2. When was the last time you saw an on-curve goyf? Ok, how big was it?3.It's as good as it gets, and for 40$ it's really good!4. An finally can you cast 1 goyf 3 times in a single game? I doubt it!Ideas Unbound: It's like faithless looting except blue and kinda worse but a great card nonetheless.Misthollow Griffin: This is both great in your normal game and amazing in any long game, especially one that involves gy hate or a war of attrition.Raven's Crime+Dakmor Salvage: This makes the plays your opponnent can make really restricted, REALLY restricted!Screeching Skaab and Opulent Palace are sub-optimal here, any replacements?
The idea is to have a really cheap modern gy deck, to put Skaab Ruinator into a deck and to discard both hands and force the game to be played from current boardstates and topdecks. Considering that your "top decks" are 5 cards and your board will be constantly refilled by Skaabs and absolutely unkillable griffins you will win a top deck war.Getting this to happen AND last is a bit tricky though,You need to draw well, not super well as dredge will fix your game eventually but well nonetheless. As with any gy deck you need enough discard, mill and threats early enough to stand a chance and you need to play around gy hate very well in the late game to win.
