So for our second edition of TheWeeklyBrew we are going to look at an old combo that got overlooked both times it was printed. Today we are going to be looking at the Blistercoil Storm. So to start I'm going to break down each non land card and why it got included Blistercoil Weird: The star that makes this deck work and the card you need to mulligan hardest for.Gitaxian Probe: Importantly it cantrips but getting to take a peek at the opponents hand is nice probably one of the weaker cards as it is at sorcery speed. however you can use it to stack an additional manaGrapeshot: One of our alternate win conditionsCerulaen Wisps: A cantrip that lets us stack an additional mana makes this an auto includeCrimson Wisps: A cantrip that give our weird haste makes this card a 4 ofManamorphose: A card I'm honestly including because of how good its always proven to be in storm seeing as it both pays for and replaces itself.Mizzium Skin: A one mana way to keep our weird alive w/o harming our ability to storm could be replaced or split with apostles blessing as blessing can also protect our mantle and favorQuicken : A way to grapeshot or probe to combo out on your opponents end step one of our weaker cardsVisions of Beyond: A way to pretty regularly draw three cards might be replaced by serum visions for consistency however visions is notably an instantParadise Mantle: Attach to the weird to cycle through your deckKarametras Favor: A slightly more expensive paradise mantle that replaces itself also an enchantment which is slightly harder to remove in modern.Land Count: 18 Similar to storm we can get away with running very few lands we might even be able to get away with 16-17 lands however I'm starting out conservatively for consistency.
So the concept of the deck is fairly simple this time around you attach paradise mantle or karametra's favor to blistercoil weird which allows you to cast cantrips as long as you keep drawing them making blistercoil weird incredibly large and since haste is probable you swing for the fences and pray you can kill the turn you choose to go. Notably this deck really is all in it essentially gives you one chance to win so practice is heavily recommended before you buy this deck and try it. Proxy testing is your friend people.Grapeshot and Fling are your alternative win cons I haven't decided which is better or if both are fine so that will require testing.

I played a similar deck to this once, hope I can give you some insight. Karametra's Favor isn't needed, with all your cantrips you should be able to fine mantle easily. Mizzium Skin isn't great as a 4 of because it increases the density of non-cantrip cards in your deck. You should also run Serum Visions, since you don't need to go off on the opponents turn for this to work. Most cantrips are sorcery speed. Also you might want to run Sleight of Hand as a cantrip. In the board, Stony Silence shuts down your Paradise Mantle. Also you have no white mana sources in your deck. Even though you can produce it w/ mantle you're probably going to want an easier way to cast it. Just my ideas.

I think I'm going to split apostle's blessing and mizzium skin in the main cause this whole thing falls apart if they just kill the weird or the mantle. And stony actually doesn't shut you down as the creature is activating the ability not the artifact it does however stop the equipAlso I'm purposely avoiding some cards so this doesn't just turn into storm. The point of this series is to explore synergies or combos that people might have forgotten about or deemed as bad at first glance
oh, ok. maybe just run 4 apostle blessing bc it can make it potentially unblockable.
What about Dizzy Spell? Or is the large amount of cantrips enough?
