Based on Notion Thief and Lab Maniac to WIN.If you murder my Notion Thief/Lab Maniac, Sphinx's Tutelage should put a sizable dent in your deck for every Puzzle Box/Magus/Whirlpool Warrior cycle.I am concerned about defense, so any suggestions are welcome.
IF Notion Thief + Burning InquiryI draw 3X where X = # of living playersEveryone discards 3 at random. Since I just drew 6+, losing three at random still puts me 3 ahead. Everyone else didn't get a draw so they all just lose 3 at random. For 1 Red. I'd say that's completely worth it.IF Notion Thief + Puzzle BoxAll Enemy Players are topdecking, Lore Broker can make them discard what they draw at instant speed, or just make sure they have 0 if they didnt cast it for the Orrery to trigger next upkeep. Should blow through the deck in large chunks, hopefully also milling someone with the Tutelage.Cyclonic Rift is decent defense, as any bounced card wont likely stick around in your hand for long. An overloaded rift essentially drops a player from the game if one of the notion thief + cycling combos are out. Every permanent goes to their hand, beginning of the draw step they cycle with the puzzle box, but instead of drawing the 12 cards or whatever nonsense it would be, they get one, I get 11, plus their regular draw.A word about the cycling mechanics:I understand cycling is a complete crapshoot and random as hell, but I want to use this to my advantage; keep the other players from coming up with a solid plan. I want them all flying by the seat of their pants so to speak. Reduces the odds that they will have something that can kill off my notion thief/lab maniacs. Besides, even if they do, there are 4 copies and I'm drawing like it's going out of style. Yes, I'm aware that this is ridiculously risky. But it just makes it that much more fun.
