Deck Description

Based on this list in my profile https://www.mtgvault.com/thegreatgodloki/decks/stompy/

Changes:

Out:
2 Surgical Extraction (From SB)
2 Veil of Summer (From MB one moved to SB)
2 Ram Through (From MB)
1 Rancor (From MB)

In:
3 Dismember (Moved from SB to MB)
2 Vines of Vastwood (Added to MB)
2 Pithing Needle (Added to SB)
2 Kitchen Finks (Added to SB)

The changes of the deck were to not only upgrade the overall power of it, but to gear it to todays meta of Heliod Company decks and help it punch through more G1s by being hyper aggresive and then being able to pivot into a more midrange in G2 with the slower SB cards of Kitchen Finks and Unravel the Aether and by removing Steel Leaf Champion if needed.

**Update**
It comes to my attention by wickeddarkman that Pithing Needle is better suited not just against Heliod decks but other decks as well. The change has been noted and made. Looking at the meta, Force of Vigor doesn't play well right now due to Heliod being the main target and not needing such mass removal. Replacing them with Deglamers looks to be better not only against Heliod but also Wurmcoil Engine and the like

Change Log 4/6/2021:

Out:
2 Old-Growth Troll (OGT)

In:
2 Syr Faren, the Hengehammer

With only 19 lands my deck is unable to consistently cast the 6 large three drops in my curve. Adding back in my 2 Syr Faren should help my T2 plays be more explosive since Syr can pump my EO/PC and on 3 swing in for more depending on what my follow-up is.

Moving OGT to my SB also gives my SB a more rounded slower play in matches where going fast isn't the best thing. Losing 2 Pithing Needle weakens some match ups, however still running 3 Dismember MB and 2 Deglamer SB still helps with Heliod matchups.

Change Log 9/27/2021:

Out:
2 Syr Faren, the Hengehammer (MB)
2 Old-Growth Troll (SB)
2 Kitchen Finks (SB)
2 Vines of Vastwood (MB)

In:
2 Skylasher (MB)
2 Apostle's Blessing (SB)
2 Weather the Storm (SB)
2 Snakeskin Veil (MB)

These changes were to deal with meta relevant match ups in my LGS.

Skylasher is immune to almost all of removal Humans can put up against it, and it blocks their Mantis Riders all day. It stops Delver from connecting, and prevents Sprite Dragon, Stormwing Entity, and Murktide Agent from connecting with my face, combined with Snakeskin Veil keeps me alive for just a bit longer if I feel I can win.

Snakeskin Veil was added over Vines due to more synergy with the deck overall. Gives EO enough counters to regen, PC trample, Troll an additonal use of his ability, Avatar more counters, and Steel Leaf more Oomp. Adding in Hexproof also helps dodge removal as well.

Weather The Storm helps against burn, combo, storm, etc and just helps net life in general

Apostle's Blessing helps push through damage, dodge removal, and makes tough blockers against Tron and Urza decks

Deck discussion for updated Stompy

I got a 2018 proxy version of this decktype.
It hasn't changed a lot, but all the changes seem to make sense.

If you want to fight heliod, phyrexian revoker might be a thing.
It's a decent beater and locks down a lot of cards, making it a great sideboard card.

Another option is to include noxious revival which let's you replay either your creatures or the dismembers which can take out heliod when he goes live.

Interesting. I'm hoping to see if I get results with the Unravel. A 2 drop dude works, but with having Ballista out it would die almost instantly.

I don't think unravel works, usually when they play the ballista, they got infinite.
Pithing needle might be a better pick if you think they can take out the revoker.

Pithing actually sounds like a good idea. Generically good SB hate that can hit even Ballista too. Thank you for the suggestions!

No problem.
I can dig into my archive to see what 2018 used for a sideboard.
At that time heliod company was better known as gw(x) vizier, and it was powerfull enough that mono green might have been prepaired for it in the sb.

The first thing I noticed when looking at the 2018 build was 2 spellskite in the mainboard.

The second thing was a single deglamer in sideboard alongside 2 relic of progenitus and 1 bow of nylea.
Deglamer is interesting as it is a card that can both destroy some of the opponents stuff for some time, but it can also be used to save your own stuff. I can imagine it was boarded in with the relic or bow as a backup, and I can also see how they might have boarded it in to protect spellskite.

There was also a blank sideboard card, which could have been just about anything.

Apart from those cards there were no other adaptations towards gw(x) vizier

Deglamer is actually extra interesting as it is capeable of removing heliod as well. Indestructible doesn't stop a reshuffle :)

The 2018 collection strikes again :)

If you look at the decktag: wdm 2018
You can see all the decks I've listed so far.
Since all of them were played at a time where gw(x) vizier was played, most of them likely had some defences against it. You could take a short look through the lists with green in them and try to figure out how they dealt with it.
