Greven is a fun character in MTG lore, and when they gave him a new card I couldn't resist trying to figure out how to play him. I decided to for a deck with a strong theft and life loss theme. Suicide Black was a favorite back in the day, and this deck is about being aggressive and waving goodbye to your life total.Victory at any cost seems like the kind of sentiment Greven would appreciate.
The idea of the deck is straightforward. Use a myriad of theft abilities to borrow your opponent's creatures and sacrifice them for fun and profit. This has two main benefits, first it gets you ahead on value, second it removes blockers for Greven and co. to swing in for lethal. Greven having Menace makes even temporary theft a threatening mechanic to run. We've got some big bombs of our own, the Rotting Regisaur, the Illharg (who you can sacrifice, put on the stack to put it third from the top, then draw it if you sacrifice it with Greven), and of course Kokusho. All these creatures are drawing you cards and pumping Greven, or simply being big threatening beat sticks. Mimic Vat lets you pump out token copies, that Greven can gobble up again since they are not long for this world anyways.
