Deck discussion for Growing Decay

There is a new sorcery speed buff card, 1 green and 1 target creature gets +5/+5 until end of turn

Phytoburst? Thanks. I'll test that and see how it meshes with the current build. But I must say I like the element of surprise this deck has. On the other hand, a little more fire power wouldn't hurt.

how about add in fuel the cause? its a counter spell that allows you to proliferate?

too heavy on the mana curve. also, i don't really aim to counter my opponent's spells except fog or something to that effect. hence the corrupted resolve on SB

fair enough, thrummingbird? or not cos it doesnt have infect?

Exactly. In my experience, I only have use for proliferate to end the game with 1 or 2 turns. That's where viral drake is crucial. Apart from it being an excellent defender, it brings another dimension to my offense.

Im assuming peasant formtat means no rares? In that case this looks pretty great.

might of old krosa is one of the best modern legal pump spells available.
also apostle's blessing is widely played in modern infect as a way to sneak creatures past blocks, and as a way to protect your guys from removal.

here's the infect deck i have been playing around with in modern, if your interested

Yes. In peasant format, you are allowed no more than 5 uncommon cards in the deck. So much as I love might of old krosa, it's gonna mess up my ratios. The next best thing would be groundswell but I got a guy in my play group who runs BG Infect with it and I don't wanna seem like I wanna mirror his build.

Thanks for the input!

Just as a thought, maybe chuck in a rogues passage?

Good one. I used to run canopy cover but I realized I like my creatures to bang around with my opponent's creatures to maximize the their potential (particularly rot wolf) so I switched it for rancor. And nobody likes blocking creatures with infect anyway (unless they also run infect) if they can't remove it. Good call on unblockable gameplay. I use distortion strike primarily because I like the +1/+0 buff. I'm thinking of something I can use like teleportal to replace it so I'm hoping WoTC would give the Simic something like that. Although I highly doubt it. I think I can use the rogues passage in combination with phytoplasm but that's a 6mana cost combo for 1 creature to deal damage. That's a bit of a stretch for my mana curve. At 4 mana, I can proliferate at my opponent's end step. I might as well go exalted if i switch to that one-shot-one-kill strategy. Unfortunatelty, cathedral of war is rare. LOL. Peasant format is a little tricky but I thoroughly enjoy beating decks who have serious card advantage over me. I always tell guys in my group how easier it would be to just throw in inkmoth nexus and wild defiance. But I am adamant to keep rares out of this deck.

I actually think I would not enjoy playing against this deck o.o, no rares and it seems like it can still be fairly devastating.

Thanks! It gets little play time nowadays since my play group frowns upon decks with infect. It's not a quick kill deck unlike its BG counterpart in the play group which can deliver a T2 kill. I'd like to think it's a more patient, grind out type of infect deck.

I tend to prefer patient decks anyway. The games no fun if every match you play ends on T2. Then it's just you picking on whomever you just defeated.

unless both players are using equally powerful decks!
Legacy for example is full of decks that can win t1-3, yet the format never feels broken. In fact, its the most skill intensive format available because when both players are playing equally insane decks, every tiny play becomes incredibly important. fun stuff

All I know is all of the people I used to play with all have legacy decks now that are like T2 and T3 wins and even though they arent hard to break they tend to be annoying and unfun to play against anymore

But thats just my personal opinion, dont feel like im forcing that on you lol, because I also hate planeswalkers and think they need to go away lol

i agree with you there! planeswalkers are overpowered and simple. Im a big fan of unfair combo decks, but at least in that case it takes multiple cards and plenty of effort, skill, and luck to pull off. planeswalkers just end games all by themselves. theres nothing fun about that.

I know right! No card should have an ability with multiple positive effects and no negatives! They're such gamebreakers, that's why im so proud of myself for convincing my friends not to waste space in their decks for a planeswalker. I think I put one off the side of one of the decks I have on this site...but only cause he fit, not because I wanted him in there
