ah damn, I'll just sub it out in that case for some mana pump once I get a hold of one.

I'm not sure on that, I've asked around about that and from what I've been told the rules on the card overrule the format rule unless otherwise noted
it's been running pretty well so far, given that I can put enough mana down early I can amass a good handful of rats pretty quickly. Only issue I'm having is one with getting the Coat of Arms out...I'm hoping to swap out the Spread the Sickness for a Demonic Tutor, but at the end of the day it's still extremely hard to pull it out early on. I'm aware there's another card that has a similar effect as it but I have no clue what it is offhand...
memnites and ornithopters are always an option for freebie artifacts to use I'm tempted to try this out on one of my current decks that uses high cost cards
except this timmy screams "KNOWLEDGE POOL!"
given enough time, it turns into Wild Evocation forcing people to fling a card into the Knowledge Pool at the start of their upkeeps, meaning that each upkeep leads to something getting thrown on the field for free. other scenarios include Shrouded indestructible Platinum Angels, Unblockable Blightsteel Colossus attacks, redirecting normally lethal poison damage over to gideon while ulamog chills out on the field, and other fun moments. the best has to be confusing players unfamiliar with Knowledge Pool, nothing beats watching them try to figure it out, then placing a second one next turn
