Deck discussion for U/B Zombie control

Your deck is awesome!!! I just have one issue with it: rooftop storm. It was printed to be the peaking point in a zombie deck. Once this came on the field, our opponent was suppose to simply gather his cards and go cry in the corner. However, it has a major flaw: it can't hold water on its own. By turn six, you have no zombies in your hand at all. If you hold zombies in your hand just for this card, you'll play maybe 3 or 4 zombies with extremely low life with the chucks your opponent has been taking out of you. Playing this n turn six and praying you draw a zombie turn 7 is no way to play the game. So, you can do one of two things: take the storm out and tune something else, or, embrace the storm. If you can play spells that allows you to draw mass of cards, with this out, you can simply destroy. Waiting for one zombie isn't as intimidating as playing a spell on turn seven, draw five or so cards, and pop 3 zombies down. Gitaxian probe is awesome since you can draw the turn you play the storm. Blue sun zenith is also simply amazing on turn 7. However, if you do want to embrace the storm, add some islands in there since your no longer splashing blue, but making this a actual UB deck. It's just a suggestion, but if you really like rooftop storm, then add draw spells. :)

Rooftop storm costs too much mana to be worth trying to be honest, especially if you consider the fact zombies usually don't cost too much mana to cast.

As for the CA, I'd recommand a planeswalker such as Jace Memory adept or Tamiyo.

Yeah I used to run U/B Zombie and even though I had no dual lands the Rooftop Storm was just pointless... it cost way too much and I had no zombies to play anyways.

I might suggest possibly Mikeaus the Unhallowed, works great against human's and gives everything undying.

I've been looking to build a deck since I opened a booster with a Gravecrawler in it. I like your deck but think the manabase could be better, 20 lands isn't enough to get consistent draws. Maybe add 1 or 2 extra lands?

Okay first I'd say drop Grimgrin or at least make him a one of (I think he is just horrible and I feel like he would just slow your aggro down since you'll have to sac creatures to him.), instead maybe add Havengul Lich (he's the same mana cost and does a lot more for the deck and he isn't legendary so he can't become a dead card in your hand.) Maybe add an army of the damned, plays well with endless ranks of the dead and can be cast after a player sweeps the board to still keep you ahead. I'd say up geralf's messanger to four ( he wins games.) Fume spitter plays awesome with geralf's messanger (put the -1/-1 counter on him after he dies and comes back to cancel the counters and he can die and come back again.) plus the fume spitter can really keep you ahead at the beginning of the game (killing a bird/delver/champion of the parish or anything else nasty.) I'd change the go for the throats to 2x and maybe add 2x geth's verdicts since it goes very well with the life loss side theme and it is removal. Mortarpod could also run well here (equip to gravecrawler and just machine gun ur opponents creatures or face.) Idk its pretty solid as is but it needs a little tuning I think and as for the SB what does your metagame look like where you play? Distress (slows down control) nihil spellbomb (for mill self) corrosive gale (against delver or other flyers ur having trouble with) and what ever else u see is getting played all the time. Phantasmal image, phyrexian obliterator and phyrexian metamorph are all interesting cards to think of as well.

Oh and I forgot to also add its always good to have different types of removal i.e. doom blades, go for the throat, and geth's verdict: instead of one type since go for the throat is useless against tempered steel and is a dead card in your hand then (keep some in ur SB too)

Here's some ideas for the sideboard:

Spellskite
Tumble Magnet
Phyrexian Crusader
Evil Twin
Memoricide
Black Sun's Zenith
Porcelain Legionnaire
Distress
Surgical Extraction
Corrosive Gale
Curse of Death's Hold
Torpor Orb
Witchbane Orb
Phyrexian Obliterator
Ratchet Bomb
Negate
Sword of Feast and Famine

It really depends on what you plan on playing against. We have a lot of aggro, some control, and what I call "big 6" type decks like wolf run - where they race to 6 cmc and drop bombs. Occasionally, you'll see various fast decks like RDW, delver, spirits. And, can almost gurantee you see netdeck copies of top 8 decks. Tragic slip, vapor snag are really popular too.

So, how about this:

2x Spellskite
2x Tumble Magnet
3x Phyrexian Crusader
2x Corrosive Gale
2x Curse of Death's Hold
2x Distress
1x Hex Parasite
1x Surgical Extraction

By the way, really like the deck!

I usually play agressive instead of control, so its nice seeing what others come up with. There's so many things you can do with zombies right now.

Forbidden alchemy works well in control variant like this one. It puts creatures in your graveyard to exile for cemetery reaper's ability, helps you make a large unbreathing horde & helps you get the card you need in a particular situation. Plus if you put gravecrawler in your graveyard it's as good as drawing an additional card. I have a zombie deck with a pretty similar look, check it out if you are looking for other ideas:

It's good. I'm not completely sure what you're going for though. With the beatdown, you have some heavy hitting creatures and some smaller drops. Are you boosting the bigger ones or do you just want sheer numbers? If you're going for that, I 've got a zombie token deck that you'd love. I've still got some tweaking to do with it and it's B/G, but it's done pretty well for me when I can get the combo rolling. It's like a snowball rolling downhill. Take a look below and give me any feedback you have.

i've always like to create a U/B Zombie deck but with Rooftop Storm on it, it just works perfectly with grim+dire+crawler combo and now that i see your deck it gave me quite an idea :)

and coz im so inspired, id prefer to give you my suggestions through a deck i made just now..

http://www.mtgvault.com/DrawSimulator.aspx?DeckID=351566

now pls dont think that im trying to take-over your idea, deck or popularity but this is just my way of suggesting things coz seeing that you named your deck as it is i thought why not make it totally control based?

and i know its gonna be a very pricey deck but hey you didnt state any limitations :p

hope this helps somehow
