Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (23 cards)

Instants (6)

Enchantments (3)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

This is a deck about choices for your opponent, and about which ones he or she will think will hurt the least.

The only card that isn't a "choice", is the Hymn to Tourach, however, it's so strong, and it stacks discard well with Skullscorch and Painful Quandary.

If you want to go completely choice and/or stack a mechanic other than discard, swap the Hymn to Tourachs for cards in the sideboard.

Blazing Salvo: stacks damage with many cards.
Molten Influence: stacks counter-spell with Dash Hopes.
Lava Blister: stacks land hate with Dwarven Driller.
Killing Wave: stacks wrath with Breaking Point

Suggestions Welcome.

Thanks. I suspect there are other "choice" decks out there, but I started coming across a lot of black and red choice cards that seemed like they would work together and wanted to see what they looked like in a deck. This is what I have so far. A bit creature light, but I think it could work. I'll have to run some test games.

I made this deck awhile back, but it was interesting to see Black added to it. I never really considered making it anything other than mono red. Though I'm a slave to the older sets.

Rakdos's Return could be a viable option, X mana = X Burn and Discard X cards.... not really a choice for them, but it hits 2 niches at once.

Book Burning
Breaking Point
Lava Blister
Molten Influence
Tyrannize
Maybe you can use some of this cards to your deck :)

Nice list, fun cards, these are all right within the Deck Theme. Let's see, for this deck ....

For the Book Burning, they would just mill the 6, and since the deck won't mill them out, that doesn't go very far.
The Breaking Point could work at the right time, but the downside may be too much.
Lava Blister also seems 50/50, you don't know if you'll see non-basic land ahead of time, though a portion of people use them regularly, and it does fit with the dwarven driller.
Molten Influence is the best one in this list, fits right in.
Tyrannize is a bit expensive: since the deck isn't ramp, by the time you cast it, there's a good chance they wont have many cards. If they are holding 1-2, you could have them discard for 2 mana rather than 5.

It also goes deliciously well with lightning bolt. "Oh, so you decided to spare your manadork and take 5 to the face? I guess I'll have to bolt him afterwards, then."

Good card, could work, sub a few in for something weak like the rhystic syphon. Not a fan of having to discard myself though.

This deck reminds me of the movie series Saw. The only way out for them is to make a huge sacrifice.
You may as well just say to them 'Live or die *person's name*. Make your choice.' at the start of the game!

I LOVE THIS DECK!!

At this point, people have offered many good suggestions and its getting hard to fit them in without thinning out the deck too much. The deck is at a point, where each card or ratio, swap or change, becomes a deeper theory discussion. Basic logic can filter a few, and that said, I've added the stronger ones to the sideboard, and added comments about them in the description, describing how they alter the deck.

Obviously, you can swap in your mechanic of choice, and alter the card ratios slightly to favor that. Thanks again, for all the great suggestions, and if you find something else that fits well, post it.

I really like the ideas behind this deck and have started to wonder if there are enough cards with this type of mechanic to make an EDH deck. The commander I would suggest if you were to do a "Lesser of 2 Evils" EDH would be Kaervek the Merciless. Any thoughts?

Looks like it's possible. Roughly, 100 cards minus 40 lands = 60, minus 20 edh staples and fixer cards, leaves about 40 cards of this type that you would need. There's 18 in the deck atm, and about 10 or so more listed throughout the thread that aren't in the deck, so about 28 so far. Which, means that you need to find about 12 more, and that seems plausible. Won't be the best edh ever, but could be fun. Kaervek is a beast anyways, so that helps.

agreed
That always leaves your opponent with a 2 evils choice: either sac a creature and keep it tapped, making it stronger OR risk 6 damage with flying

Look at that, another person who built a Lesser of two Evils deck. It's such a fun deck to play. I will say that it can be a pain dropping the Temporal Extortion's early game when they'll be a hard choice, and pretty much everyone will just take the life loss late game. A couple fun other choices are Forbidden Ritual, Lethal Vapors, and Worms of the earth. The second two slow the game down a bit, but this deck just gets better the longer the game goes.

Oh, Hi there! And with the same name no less. I almost called mine "Damned if you do...", but the Lesser of Two Evils phrase seemed more catchy. Like I said in my response to the first comment, I suspected there were other "choice" decks out there, but didn't research it at first, and just started listing cards.

From what you suggested, and looking at your deck, I found 3 more cards I liked. I thought the Worms were, eh, but the Forbidden Ritual, Lethal Vapors, and Shivan Wumpus are solid. Onlytruereject suggested/wondered-about making an EDH version a few posts back, and at that point, it looked like one would only need to pick about 12 more good choice cards, This brings it to 9, I'm sure they are out there.

With Theros, an EDH deck actually might be achievable with this deck's fundamental idea. It just may become my next EDH deck. I tend to like control type decks for EDH but the thought of screwing them by allowing them to pick a choice? That sounds amazing, especially with a 100 card deck stock full of things like this.

I still say you need a few Crypt Incursion. One of the best cards Black has ever had for establishing control mid-late game, and the Yard Hate + Life Gain is never bad, especially when you're forcing your opponent to chuck creatures to preserve their valuable Sorceries that they think are gonna clear your board. I mean even 2 would be a buffer just on case they manage to pull something out. In a Scavenge deck, they could easily turn this on you if you let them build up a slew if stuff in their Graveyard that they can Scavenge or Flashback later. At least this would stop Jarad and Mortivore from coming out and having their pick of Yard fodder to work with.

My original deck. I really do like it, but it could kinda use a bit of fine tuning. Just to help make it perfect.
If you have any suggestions on how to make it better, please feel free to help me out.

I chose you to help me, Synthesis, because you really know how to make a good deck! I really hope you could give me some advice for the deck.

Thanks, guys.
