The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Standard Legal Discard WINCON the idea is to start discarding right off the bat. which will make opponent opening hand strategy ever changing. always play Liliana's Caress and Quest for the Nihil Stone when possible and attack with creatures once you have the mana to play them... keeping their board cleared with Doom Blade.

Could work quite well. I'd worry a bit about getting the mana consistently to cast your higher CC spells though, and running out of cards (since mostly you're 1-for-1 discarding. What about sign in blood to help keep you flush with cards?

yes i was actually thinking of taking the Gull Draz Specters out and adding reckless scholar and maybe Jace' TMS or even Baby Jace to keep me drawing and/or make them draw just to discard for damage if Caress is out. Im just not sure if 2 blues cards would be worth adding
I would take out painful quandry and add mind sludge. Instead of adding blue why not use temple bells?
i originally had mind sludge in there but i figured if i am discarding them by the time i have 5 mana they arnt going to have very many cards in their hand. where as painful quandary will trigger caress if i have one or 2 of them out or they can take the 5 damage if they wanna cast somthing... Temple bells might do the trick as far as drawing goes though.
I run a discard deck (its legacy but w/e) and I have to say painful quandry far surpasses liliana vess herself. in addition to that you have to protect your plainswalker, which becomes a difficult task when you run as many spells as a discard deck tends to do. So keep the painful quandry, its worth it plus if you have several out at a time the ability stacks. ( I run them in mine and they are seriously the dreaded card of the deck. Mind sludge is an expensive card to play, and this means it is utterly useless. If your opponent isnt at draw play or maybe 1 or 2 cards, you need to think about reworking the entire deck. sign in blood is hard because discard decks don't do life gain or creatures well at all. This means you need to allow for a lot of life loss at any point. this is what makes temple bells so interesting. you can force people to draw cards so that you can force them to discard for some damage, while giving yourself card advantage in the process. I'd have to say add em, i like. Adding blue I wouldn't suggest, it would take too much away from the speed you need early game. As for the Guul Draz Specters, I like em because they get bigger which is helpful. If you want to pull em, I know M10 came out with some hyppis (Hypnotic specters), but I can't remember if M10 is still standard. They are potentially better cuz its discarding at random, which fucks peoples plans up a lot.
M10 isnt standard anymore or i would add em... as far liliana are you suggesting taking her out and adding more painful quandary?? i defentally see where you are comming from, i would basically be paying 5 mana for liliana only for her to be discard ability or her search but she would last much longer than that because i dont have much to defend her with
Sorry it's taken so long to reply to this. Honestly yeah I would take out Vess, as I see you've done. They're each cool in their own way, I've just had a ton more success since I pulled her from my own deck. Not that I can find a particular reason for it, just seems to be the lack of protection. And most def Painful Quandry gives your opponents headaches that they will carry around for days, lemme know how its worked out.
I play the same deck actually, except I find using mimic vat with a liliana specter is helpful.
