Deck Description

I keep trying to look for new EDH generals every day, since it's the format I play the most (if you check my deck lists, you'll understand)

So, I thought I'd bring some EDH generals that I haven't ever seen in play into light. The ones in the Main Deck should be played for Multiplayer, while the Sideboard ones should be played Singleplayer.

Here's some reasons why I put them there:

Horobi, Death's Wail - Its ability makes Voltron of all kinds obsolete. Could be placed into the Singleplayer list for that reason. Add lots of "Target creature gets..." and set the world on fire. Turns cards like Power Matrix into an Avatar of Woe.

Seizan, Perverter of Truth - It's as if your general is a Font of Mythos with pain. Make it into a milling/discard/reanimation deck where drawing cards isn't always a good idea. Perfect with Underworld Dreams.

Heartless Hidetsugu - A silly general, amazing against Life-Gain decks. Hidetsugu hurts everyone, so no one person will go after you, and it gives you political power (as in, if someone's at 10 life and they're going to take 5, you could tap him to kill that player).

Kami of the Crescent Moon - Like Seizan, except a weaker version in a better milling colour. Instead of a Font of Mythos, it's a Howling Mine. Doesn't get as much hate, though.

Kagemaro, First to Suffer - A Boardwipe general that can kill indestructibles. Although you have to sacrifice it, it gives you lots of political weight, because an instant-speed boardwipe can determine how people will play their game against you.

Homura, Human Ascendant - An odd general, which is helpful with large armies. Added to this list not so much as a General choice, but as a card to consider for red token decks. Since putting Generals into the command zone is optional, YES, you can turn him into the enchantment when he dies.

Darien, King of Kjeldor - Maybe more popular than I believe, but is a deadly token weenie general. Add a Soul Warden, and you don't ever lose life.

Lim-Dul the Necromancer - Decently costly, but makes singular removal tricky business. Makes a Doom Blade into a Control Magic, except in Black.

Jolrael, Empress of Beasts - Can make your lands a great defence, or turns a Boardwipe into a one-sided land wipe. Use the latter when someone annoys the hell out of you.

Empress Galina - Great control for obvious reasons. Stops your opponents from playing their Generals and other great cards, like Gaea's Cradle. Get lots of cards like Thousand-Year Elixir or Magewright Stone for continuous Legendary-taking.

Aboshan, Cephalid Emperor - If you have enough flying creatures, in can become a one-sided boardstop. Otherwise, it usually stops token decks, and provides some political power. The 3 blue won't be a problem since you're going mono-blue.

Mageta the Lion - Similar to Kagemaro, except with discard and without killing itself. Weirdly, you need cards in your hand for both to work well. Can also work in singleplayer, because it leaves Mageta alone, free to attack when he untaps.

Chainer, Dementia Master - One-sided reanimation that doesn't tap. Like Aboshan, the 3 black won't be a problem, and the 3 life is worth it. Can choose any graveyard, which means that milling/discard wouldn't be a bad secondary strategy. Works decently well with Seizan.

Ashling the Pilgrim - Although not in the best ramping colour, there are enough colourless mana sources that'll make an overall board wipe easy (Caged Sun, Gauntlet of Power/Might, etc.). Not only that, but she only costs 2. At worst, she is a "[3][R][R][R] - deal 3 damage to each player and creature". Her ability can activate as many times as you want, as long as you have enough mana at the point of blowing up.

Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer - Can pacify a creature as well as give your opponent less of a reason to hurt you. Exceptionally political, and doesn't always have to be just for the Pacifism (but why wasn't he in the Political Puppets pre-con? Hmm...) Doesn't cost much, gives two colours (which are both good for control), and can benefit from untappers like Empress Galina does.

Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief - In retrospect, is a better singleplayer General. Can be a great corner piece to a Vampire-tribal deck. Although Anowon seems like a better Vampire General, you don't want to have to sacrifice your staple non-vampires (Massacre Wurm, Bloodgift Demon, etc.).

Uyo, Silent Prophet - A General which can Twincast multiple times per turn without colour weight. Good for/against large singular spells (like Red Sun's Zenith). Can also help you if your lands are being destroyed.

Oyobi, Who Split the Heavens - Out of all of the mediocre Kamigawa Arcane/Spirit legendaries, Oyobi is the best for Commander. Creating a 3/3 flying token with each spell played is very good, even if the spell is 1-cmc. Unfortunately, it's only one colour, so you won't have much of a selection of Spirit/Arcane spells.

Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder - As long as you've got a creature with less than 7-cmc in your hand, Endrek can give you many blockers, attackers, and sacrifice targets. Works well with Attrition, Reprocess, or Grave Pact.

Singleplayer Generals:

Marton Stromgald - Exceptionally useful in a token deck. Is essentially a non-tribal Coat of Arms, but only when attacking. May be better as a support card to a Krenko Goblin deck.

Konda, Lord of Eiganjo - In truth is an 8/8 indestructible with vigilance for 7-cmc. Is also in a good Voltron colour (Stoneforge Mystic, Stonehewer Giant, etc.).

Purraj of Urborg - A weird ability and situational first strike make her a true treat to play with. Not as good as Skullbriar in terms of getting +1/+1 counters, but can become powerful by just playing normal black spells rather than equipment/auras.

Spirit of the Night - Black's Akroma, Angel of Wrath, just slightly weaker. Nothing else to say about it.

Volrath the Fallen - Can work as a Voltron General as well as a Reanimator General. It really encourages you to discard your biggest creatures, which in turn, is your biggest target for reanimation.

Starke of Rath - More of a fun General to play with, and can be played in Multiplayer. Is somewhat annoying to deal with, but works AMAZINGLY with Homeward Path. When untapped, he is difficult to destroy, since you'll be inclined to do something in response.

Mirri the Cursed - A Sengir Vampire on crack. She has almost all of the best offensive abilities, and you benefit whether she's blocked or not. Giving her deathtouch or infect would just be evil... and acceptable.

Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer - 7 mana for a 7/7+ with trample and constantly growing is nothing to overlook. Green is also the best colour for hand ramp (Boundless Realms, Manabond, Asuza, Lost but Seeking, Harrow, Cultivate, Gaea's Touch, etc.etc.etc.).

Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer - With Boros Signet, Mox Opal, Sol Ring, Semblance Anvil, Cloud Key, etc., there are many ways to get that Metalcraft working. Worst case scenario, you have a 5/4 with first strike for 5-cmc, which isn't anything to look past. An 8/4+ is something to worry about, though.

Maga, Traitor to Mortals - A Blaze on a stick. Like Ashling, works well when you have a lot of mana generators. Unlike Ashling, you'll have a large creature remaining and you won't get burned, but the board won't be wiped.

Cloudhoof Kirin - Like Oyobi, but for milling purposes. Milling an extra 5 when playing a 5 cmc spell is great, but you may have trouble finding the niche between milling cards and arcane/spirit spells.

Hokori, Dust Drinker - Winter Orb on a creature. This is a better singleplayer General than multiplayer because your opponent now is going to have trouble coming back after you've played Hokori, especially after the board's been wiped or they don't have any creatures to block. Play it when your opponent is all tapped out.

If you have any complaints or possible additions, please say so. I'll consider adding/removing a general if you bring up a good enough point.
