The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck discussion for Ugly Stick

Why bother w/ the valakut? You only have 8 mountains if you include the badlands.

Good man, ogres never get the love they deserve. I got beat by a blood ogre in this weekends draft, first strike/thirst is a dangerous combo.

Question, you mentioned that you do 'tribal tournaments' at your shop. Is there a certain ruleset/format that you use? My group would love to do that, but rather than make stuff up as we go it would be nice to have something to go off of.

- Legacy legalities, 60 card constructed.

- All decks entered must be tribal decks, which means they must have at least 10 cards devoted to a specific tribe/tribes.

- If a deck has more Changelings than actual creatures of the tribe type, then the deck is declared a Shapeshifter tribe, or in some cases, a Shapeshifter/____ tribe.

- Since the format is meant more for casual play, decks that are more ____ decks than actually tribal are against the spirit and aren't allowed. (Ex: Cascade Hypergenesus with Spirits isn't really "Spirits")

- Some tribes should definitely be banned, and that's really up to you guys, but here's our current banned tribe list.

1. elf
2. cleric
3. kithkin*
4. goblin
5. ally
6. zombie
7. artificer
8. rebel
9. sliver
10. merfolk
11. knight
12. soldier
13. elemental
14. vampire
15. faerie
16. cat
17. treefolk

*may be used to produce goats

- Banned cards: Engineered Plague, Harsh Mercy (holy balls), An-Zerrin Ruins, Patriarch's Bidding (Restricted), and Extinction. Same with banned tribes, this is more up to your group, but this is our current banned cards list (these are banned in addition to any normal ban/restricted lists)

so prettymuch all of the obvious tribes are banned. actualy, i'm surprised giants aren't banned. my friend has a god like giant deck that can easily tear to pieces most of the banned tribal decks you've listed. and would you mind telling me why artificer tribe is banned? i'm curious as to how you could make a kick-ass artificer tribe.

My Giant tribe is one of my "Go-to" decks when playing the format. I'm not complaining, but I agree...Giants are much better than people give them credit for. Check it out =P

Artificers were pretty damn good with a bunch of artifacts for control, etc. But now they also have Stoneforge and Grand Architect...so they're surprisingly good =/

How many people do you find that you draw in for the tribal thing? I have a feeling if I pushed my group to do it and told them that the obvious/easy ones are banned they would just not go for it :\

Well, there's definitely people who don't care for the "oddball" tribes...But I dunno, there's more people than you think who have at least one tribal that's different from the "norm". The main thing that's so fun about Tribal is that it's such a breath of fresh air, and the games are always interesting. For example, I played someone today who had a Crocodile deck =]

Give it a try man =]

Ya, come to think about it, if you only need 10 artificers for it to quallify as an artificer deck..... i forgots about that.
i took a look at your giant tribe and commented.
