Deck discussion for The Idea

you have way to many things going on here refine the deck and find a goal.

Alright, might you have any suggestions as to improve upon the design? Also, I don't want to sound like a jerk here, but this deck is an experimental hybrid of Pox and Iso-Seek, two Legacy decks that are, quite frankly, ill understood by the general public. So, and again I apologize if this isn't exactly the case, it appears that you might not fully understand how this deck works, and therefore see it as 'unfocused'.

Bloodghast makes this deck very powerful, once again, another touch of the master. I know you have quite the love for mr Bloodghast, and rightly so. love this deck.
On another note, I have been eagerly hoping that I would get your input and comments on my standard deck called Sorin, Lord of Virtue. I really respect your deck building, and your comments would be quite beneficial and helpful. On a constructive note (not exactly), do you have a poor man's version of this deck? haha I can't lay down for all the lands and mox diamond. haha

If you could provide the link, that'd help me a lot =]

And sadly not really. One of my biggest regrets with many decks I make, and many I don't or even never have is that there are a good number of decks that, try as you might, simply can't be made in a budget-friendly way =[

hahaha sure thing my man, although it is currently on the front page, and honestly the reception astounds me.

Tear this thing apart. I want your honest comments on the deck, not some "great job, looks good" thing if you think something is weak. The only thing I can tell you in advance is that dismember does not read properly in the CMC. it labels it as being a 4 instead of a 3. So my mana curve looks more 4 heavy than it really is. thank you so much!

Terminus is a nice touch.

In the SB? Yeah, it's worked out very nicely, even as a one-of. I can see that card being used in place of DoJ to be honest...It also places a pretty hefty amount of mana burden into a player's deck when they get hit with Terminus, so that's appealing too =]

wow this looks brutal. ive never even herd of pox and after reading it im glade i havent gone against it. lol ofcourse seek is in here, one of ur fav play styles.

wouldnt another bloodghast be better than the entomb? also smokestack seems some what risky guess thats just a personal thing.

To play any form of Pox you need to be a little bit...unhinged =P

It's a style of deck that rewards self-destructive tendencies, and wins by screwing over the opponent more than you.

As for Entomb, it's used for much more than just putting Bloodghast in the grave. I can drop in Riftstone Portal for some quick mana fixing, or Raven's Crime if my hand is flooded with lands and I want to shift the card advantage in my favor. It also works wonders with the SB =]

Hey sure, could you help me out with this little standard deck of mine. It's called U/W tap out. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=336371

I really can't at the moment dude. Over the next 4 weeks I am going to be insanely busy, sorry, but it is what it is =/

All I can really offer at the moment is to direct you to my Taps deck "I'd Tap That" (first page methinks in my decklist) and also the comments within it. I know a few people have looked at it and especially the comments within and it has helped them with their Taps (I'm assuming what you've built is a Taps).

I also have a (recently) standard Taps deck that might also help. I'll leave the link below.

This is just broken control. I like how you are not only forcing them to tap and (basically keep tapped)their lands but Bloodghast in here is the ultimate chump block! He will just keep coming! This is a brilliant design man, and a nice hybrid mix.

Expect a new archetype soon haha!

Well actually Bloodghast can't block (probably because it would be unfair with its ability). It's mostly in here to die over and over haha. This deck has so many things that kill my stuff that Bloodghast will be in an almost constant state of death. Then once it gets its haste active, I can go hog-wild =P

0

Ha, you're right it can't block my mistake. But I think that the "state of constant death" as you put it is a very good idea with it's ability...which is why I'm sure you have it in here. But with the rate that you're killing things off it should be no time at all until it gets haste, and then it's 4 damage each turn.

Also didn't mention this before but brilliant move (whether its from necessity or not) to include Crucible of Worlds. "What? Land Destruction? Ok let me just pay three mana..." Haha.

Either you have way too much time on your hands or you have way too many cards to play around with.

And while I'm at it, I would like to ask you take a look at a Standard deck I'm switching to. If you don't mind of course. I know that spamming decks is against my religion but since you are...well 4000 posts and multiple front page decks almost makes you a master deck builder... I would take your opinion seriously.

It seems very similar to the Winter Void deck without the Void part. That is until you get to the spells, but even then there are a few similarities :P

Hmmmm... I love it. It's more in line with the original design, playing field control more so than my more recent designs. It seems the deck is more at home with this, so perhaps it needs to return to its roots.

Projects are stirring about in my head, but I need reports, to finish seeing the cards of this set, and then a few more things before I start building again. Nothing sucks me in quite like this game did, except maybe Bethesda games.

Glad you like it. Like I said, ive been surprised by this thing, and just how much it denies people the ability to play. I feel like this is the path that this branch of Extraction will take in the future. What's interesting is that, just like in PAL, the big addition has been the Disk...

So, this may be a novice question... but why is it called Iso-Pox if you can't put Smallpox on Isochron Scepter?

0
Posted 18 September 2012 at 03:23

It's called that because it uses the classic Iso-Seek combo, while also giving the opponent a huge amount of mana burden and mana denial through Pox/Smallpox =]

So, I've been working on a different kind of "pox" deck... it doesn't actually use pox, but with a combination of braids, grave pact, and contamination it should effectively shut down the opponent. Any thoughts/suggestions, or if you just don't think it would work, please let me know :)
