The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

The name is because when playing this deck, I feel like I'm just playing Solitaire. I even annoyed my opponent one game by saying "Hey, since it's your turn...could you get me a Dr. Pepper?"

*****Gleemax is in place of the card Torpor Orb from New Phyrexia until the actual card is added to the system*****

Blame WhiteAndBlueTheyKillYou for this.

Iso-Seek is often considered the pinnacle of extraction. The typical Iso-Seek deck is an unholy abomination of sick and twisted control/lockdown that uses the Iso-Seek combo to destroy a deck bit by bit. My deck "May God have mercy" is my best incarnation yet...and is arguably my best deck yet. It doesn't just use Iso-Seek though. It also puts Memoricide on a Panoptic Mirror =P

It can happen as early as turn 1 to be honest. If I get anything less than a BAD hand, you will be struggling to do much of anything. If I have a good hand or better, there's damn near nothing you can do.

As per your usual, another great extraction deck. Looks fun to play, and it looks like it has a great consistency.

I'd also completely forgotten about tainted aether's existence, which could actually prove pretty useful for a lot of control decks.

I think this is a great deck, succeeded at the challenge, and would be rewarding to play(if they'd only give you that Dr. Pepper). I love it!

One thing I have to ask though, what do you think of the new Extirpate(Surgical Extraction)? I personally plan to use it in a deck I'm working on MB, I think it'd be handy against decks like Storm combo, spiral #$%@, Lands, and Countertop.

1

Surgical Extraction is unbelievable. It's going to be so much better than you even know right now. Turn one Thoughtseize ---> Surgical Extraction will crush most decks for just 1 black and 4 life. It's the return of aggressive control, and I am VERY exited =}

Dude, that's actually the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I've been waiting for this kind of deck to be viable for tourneys since I first broke onto that crap.

I've been also thinking that it would be useful in pretty much any control deck, such as countertop. It's just monstrous!

The basic "skeleton" of that deck just works VERY well, and so it probably does look similar at first. However, if you look closer, it has a number of distinct differences.

What do you mean by lightning deck by the way? Burn? Aggro? Because aside from Legacy Gobs, no other aggro is really an issue for Extraction (unless it's a Circu extract, which I'm honestly a bit disappointed in).

Gerrard's Verdict may be good for this deck. maybe souls of the faultless if for some reason they get a creature out? also, where's tidehollow sculler? seems like a good exraction card. if it wasn't for the mana curve, i'd suggest identity crisis. Though come to think about it, you've probably already seen and considered those cards, being the master of extraction you are.
Speaking of which, i was wondering if you could help me with my take on a bitterbomb deck. Here it is:

Tidehollow is the card Castigate attached to a creature. However, the biggest issue is that if Tidehollow dies, they get the card back. If that weren't the case, I would abuse him...and so would every other extractor, because that would kick ass.

Gerrard's Verdict is sometimes used in the sideboards of extraction decks for the Lands matchup, since 6 life and two discarded lands (typically this'll be the case) is a hard hit against the chiseling type of damage that Lands is know to do. I personally don't use it, as I think there's better ways to take on Lands.

Also, if they get a creature out and it stays out long enough to be a threat, I'm doing something VERY wrong. =]

identity Crisis suffers from the same issue that makes Circu extraction so unreliable -- It's unselective. It may do a lot, but unlike more usable extraction methods/cards, it doesn't directly target key pieces of the enemy's deck.

0
Posted 17 April 2011 at 07:50

Gerrard's Verdict is actually the worst one of the anti-lands cards I've seen implemented against my builds, I find Pox is more effective even. Since I mulligan VERY aggressively with my lands, I usually wound up discarding a LfTL.

Could just be my experience/luck, but I have to agree with you that there are better ways. MUCH better ways...

0

Pox is actually a very good card for fighting Lands. The best ever was Balance...but that got the boot ={

0
Posted 18 April 2011 at 13:39

There's always Armageddon, but that usually doesn't matter all that much to a GOOD lands.

I think Land Equilibrium would be an interesting way to go against lands in Extraction, it's slow yes, but it could be very nice against the slower lands decks.

0
Posted 18 April 2011 at 20:42

I've seen Armageddon used, and it often ends badly because the Lands deck can get them back while you can't...

Land Equilibrium just doesn't work on Lands, I've tried. They have so many damn ways around it.

Price of Progress and Primal Order have worked in the past I've heard, and Limited Resources has always been a good anti-Lands card. Still, Balance was the best...and when they took it away from us, Lands became a big problem.

I miss using Balance =[

Forgot to include Horn of Greed. Yes, Horn of Greed is used as an anti-Lands sideboard card. Think about it and you'll laugh.

0

An extractor trying to use Horn of Greed on me lost because of it, if the lands player knows what they're doing they can get around it.

It is a funny way to deal with lands though

I'm puzzled.. Why no Dark Ritual or Hymn to Tourach? Soo good! I don't see like any of these cards in any of your extraction decks upon a quick look-through. Why not?
Turn 1: Dark Ritual, Thoughtsieze, Hymn, and eventually the new Phyrexian Extirpate back to back!

1
Posted 18 April 2011 at 04:34

While Hymn is an excellent card, it is unselective and there are a ton of much more suitable 2 mana cards to use. Dark Ritual is a liability in Extraction decks. Many of the cards in Extraction are gold and/or low-cost. This means that Dark Ritual can end up either draining your hand too quickly for no real advantage, or can leave you with two or more unplayable cards. In short, Dark Ritual carries a high risk of becoming mana burden. It was quickly learned by extractors that in the Extraction vs Extraction match-up, the player with Dark Ritual in their deck (even just one) would almost always be the loser.

I might actually take some of your ideas for my WB Pox deck. :d

Only thing I can think of is Forbidden Orchard, which works decently with Tainted Aether, but isn't necessarily good unless you have support for it...

Also on the note of Tidehollow Sculler-- He's great in Nightmare Effect (another sub-tourny tier), but that relies on recursion tools and the ability to sacrifice him in response to the ETB trigger.

how do you get a lockdown turn 1?

0
Posted 19 April 2011 at 16:08

A few ways really, mostly dependent on Mox Diamond, but even so devastating none the less.

Mox Diamond + Rishadan Port means that their first turn I'll tap their land so they can't play anything. Then it's my turn again and I play a land and with the 3 mana I play Trinisphere. They now have maybe 2-3 mana. They can either use it all to play one card that normally costs 1 or they can't play anything again.

Mox Diamond + a land + Isochron + Orim's Chant = Game over

Or I could play Tabernacle first turn. While I don't play anything neither can they without it killing them. I use one card, they use at least 2 that end up counting for nothing.

Or I could play a land, then play Orim's Chant on their turn, then play another land and play Conjurer's Ban and name a land they need to play. I get to draw a card from Ban and thus resupply my card advantage. Being unable to play anything for two turns, one of which they can't play a land, they must discard. I can then next turn either play another land and play any combination of things, or if I don't have a land I could play Extirpate and/or ET and/or another Chant and/or Meekstone (shutting down any larger creatures they might now be trying to play) , and/or...etc.

And many other scenarios. In short, unless I get a very bad hand, you'll be playing catch-up from the start, and then will eventually have no chance at all.

I'm pretty by turn five I'd give up. Once you imprint on panoptic mirror its over for them. It takes alot of guts to play this deck man. Every time I play a lockdown deck I just want to beat their face in cause it seems like no fun. Then I realize when you play a lockdown deck like this really fun and challenging. So thumbs up to you mate.

Boo!
Beautifully constructed deck though it may be, I simply have no interest in it.
Several of the cards are on banned lists (hence no competitive type play), nobody I know would ever want to play against it more than once (No casual play)., and it's expensive.
Though I do wonder if there is a deck with as unlimited restrictions that would beat it, given the nature of the deck.

Congrats on creating another frightening deck.

0

Only thing I see that's banned is balance, unless they banned enlightened in legacy... And as for casual? Hell, I've got some things I'll try against it WITHOUT using anything banned in legacy, I may lose, but casual is all about fun, and I don't like to give up.

I suppose I should update it for Legacy legality. I don't even remember putting Balance in it, it isn't in the real-world version. It must be a sub-concious yearning for Balance =P

The real world version has Torpor Orb from New Phyrexia instead of Balance. It's such a huge middle finger card.

Hahaha you'd put up a good fight I think. It's actually a sort of "initiation ritual" in my shop to go up against all my friends and me in 1 vs 1. The store owner calls it "The Seven Decks". That right there is one HELL of a gauntlet. Only two of my friends also play Extraction. You're gauntlet run would actually look something like this:

1) Extraction (Mine)
2) 10 land Stompy
3) Extraction
4) Esper Prison
5) A deck similar to my Black Sacrifice
6) Extraction
7) Tempo

Thanks for the links! It's funny, one of the first comments on the infect stompy mentioned naya.. That's the deck I'm working on right now! Extended right now because I like the cards, but standard in nayan colours would be really fun.

Some obvious inclusions in there of course (thoctar), but it's more the proper numbers and play testing that make a deck like that work well.
Most draws I can conceive a win condition by turn five - on top of having already been swinging (5 power creatures coming out turns 2-4 and ripping things up already) Toughest hinge I think is performing under heavy lightning bolt fire.

If you feel like taking a look and making any suggestions. I'd appreciate it.
