Deck Description

"Everything shall end"

Extraction Tempo. And an overall more control-heavy version of the idea. I've been working on this one for a long time, so I hope it meets my expectations. Any comments and/or suggestions are as always very welcome. =]

Deck discussion for Semper Finalae

That... That's just not right, lol.

I don't know how to respond to this really, other than to say; Game over man, game over.

I'm glad you like it man. I've been working on this one before I posted my first Tempo deck. I think I finally got it just right. =]

Also, Panoptic + Temporal Extortion = Funny

Again; That's just not right dude.
It might be a little better than choice of damnations, but it's still painful as hell.

I think it's much better than Choice of Damnations. Once I put it on Panoptic, I essentially have infinite turns or they lose an ass-load of life, and possibly even die.

One Panoptic giving infinite turns and the other with Choices of Damnation is even worst.

<_<

That's borderline abusive.

So if you have a Paradox Haze enchanting yourself, you have 2 upkeeps each turn and have infinite turns from Temporal Extortion on Panoptic Mirror, you could imprint 2 spells so each turn you get another turn and, for example, a Sadistic Sacrament, just killing them even more.
That is just Rude. Lmao

I don't have Paradox Haze in this deck. But every turn, during my upkeep I make a copy of Temporal Extortion. So when that happens, either they pay half their life, or I take an extra turn. Then, on that extra turn, I make a copy, and they have to pay half their life, or I take another extra turn. Rinse and repeat =]

I know. It was just a thought, the Paradox Haze.

Pretty awesome deck. I was wondering if you have ever thought of a Unhinged/Unglued deck???? I dont see anything like it in your list and was wondering if you would create one!!

Yeah, I may make an Un-deck eventually. I think I have enough cards from those sets to make a deck...I'll have to check.

Glad you like the deck, it's been a real popular deck at my local shop (by that I mean people always ask if I brought it and/or if I can show it to them).

Evil dude, evil. I don't get Tempo as no one (out of the 27 different decks) plays anything like a tempo, but even I can get this. I've been abused by silence before (Isochron Scepter + silence every single god damn turn, eventually my playgroup just outright banned scepter). I have seen one deck more evil than this:

voltaic key + Time Vault.

That...was by far the worst game ever.
T1: island, voltaic key
T2: island,
T3: island, then mana leaks my mimic vat :(
T4: island, memnite, tinker, time vault, voltaic key on time vault
infinite turns.

Thats worse than panoptic mirror + Temporal extortion!!

Anyway...I think I know where my next cash wad is going...

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I too have been on the receiving end of Silence. It's such a simple, yet destructive spell. When I added in the White aspect for the Extraction part of this, I realized I could use Silence and was so happy. Tempo has all but vanished from more recent sets, but it's so good to see that it stays alive in a few select cards here and there...Silence being one of them for sure.

it's even worse if they can get off voltaic key +time vault on first turn....I know cause I've done it XD.
(seat of synod, sol ring, lotus petal, mox diamond ) I doubt It'll happen again for a very long time, but like I said, it COULD be worse :P

Anyway, I like your deck, It's alot friendlier than some of the nonsense I play against, I don't see a first turn win mechanism =]. orim's chant is nice too, maybe as a replacement to silence or even in addition if you really want=].

What about a haunting echoes? It may be a little slower, but with all the removal and stalling you have going on, you could do some serious damage with it, especially when they play an instant heavy deck.

this is very well done haunting echoes but one card is missing. vindicate i also think that you should add counterspells and take out the dash hopes i mean its good but usually they pay the 5 life. its just a reccomendation. anyway check out my hatred towards all deck

Thanks everyone. Glad you all like this one! =]

Haunting Echoes...I just never really liked it that much. Unless you're doing a focused Discard/Extraction, I don't think it's good enough (in the case of Discard/Extraction though...holy crap).

With Dash Hopes, I've found that most players don't realize how much they either needed that 5 life or needed to play that card. Also, I usually, this being Tempo, Dash Hopes them...then if they pay the 5 life, hit them with a Spellstutter Sprite or a Perplex. =P

I do not really understand why you run dash hopes. You are giving your opponents a choice that counterspell doesn't offer them while retaining the same effect. Giving your opponent an extra choice is not good. For example, if you are playing against combo and try to dash hopes a winning combo piece early in the game, they will pay 5 life. Then they have a combo piece on the field and will most likely win rapidly.
If you are worried about the UU mana cost of counterspell, try mana leak. Although it is slightly less effective late game, your deck will most likely have established a strong presence on the board by then or locked them out of the game with silence on a stick.

Thoughtsieze, Silence, and Spellstutter are for combo decks of that nature. Dash Hopes is appealing BECAUSE it gives them a choice. Making an opponent have to choose is another piece of the puzzle for Tempo. If I'm dealing with a full-force power combo deck, then I'll sideboard in my Mindbreak Traps and/or Inquisition of Kozilek, since they CRUSH those decks...it's pretty damn funny to be honest.

Conjurer's Ban also helps nicely since I can Thoughtsieze ---> Ban to hold them down to the point that they'll be unable to pull the combo off. Combo decks are like a glass cannon -- Powerful, but fragile.

Also, you seem to have a funny translation of semper, which I have never seen associated with everything. That word generally seems to mean always. When I think of latin words for everything, quidque immediately pops to mind, but there may be others. It's been a long time since I've used Latin, but I think a more a better translation of your desired deck title would be "Quidque Finietur" though i'm sure there's a more accurate word to describe the exact type of finishing.

0

That is a more..."direct", translation. Semper Finalae technically means "All that is shall always be finished in the end" (Latin's amazing that way isn't it?)

It's one of the things (apparently) that someone said to Julius Cesar. All of the deck titles are things that someone said to Cesar. =P

great job on the deck man. It looks great. I can see why you use dash hopes. It just adds to the mind games. I do the same thing with Blazing Salvo. It makes the opponent think about just how much a card means to him/her. Then after they take the 5 dmg to save their creature, I hit it with a lightning bolt. lol

Really good, but again you are missing memoricide and cranial extraction!
Try duress - its not extraction, but a good turn 1 play.
