Deck Description

This deck is a ton of fun. It eventually can "play itself" with the right group of cards out. It has a couple fun combos in it as well that take advantage of the "when an elemental dies, deal 3 damage" clause. For example, Ashling can not only nuke the board, but nuke a player as well.

Deck discussion for Mad World

* Groundskeeper.

* If you play this in Multiplayer you could run Taurean Mauler. It is a solid card in anything multiplayer but since he is a changeling he will also count as an elemental.

* Yavimaya Elder?

* Phytotitan? I mean, he keeps coming back.

* Wave of Vitriol!!!

* Mountain Valley.

* Druidic Satchel

* Life from the Loam !!

* Overall I think your deck focusses a tad bit too much on it's commander. Remember that in most games, the commanders spent about 90% of their time in the command zone, shuffled into the library or anywhere else than in play. I especially question the lack of removal, lifegain, graveyard hate and all the other areas that are so important in EDH (that can be summed up as "tools to fight over resources").

To make room:
- I think Azusa doesn't do enough considering how fast she gets killed (and how many other similar effects you have)
- Manabond is way too risky, isn't it? And the effect comes EOT, so opponent has a full turn to kill the resulting tokens.
- Nova Chaser is pretty much gambling ... he would be my candidate to be replaced by Phytotitan
- Seething Pathblazer isn't that great, early on you have nothing to sacrifice and later on he will get blocked or easily killed. I just don't see situations coming up often where you a) have elementals to sac and b) where it is worth.

I think you're right, I always like to build around my generals, but I may have gone too far with this one. It certainly can function just fine without him, but still, I see your point. Now on to your suggestions...

Groundskeeper -- Yes, fuck yes. I totally forgot about this dude and he's definitely going into the deck, replacing Manabond.

Mauler -- I do like Red Bull, but I need to slim down on the elementals I have in here, so I don't think I'm going to add another one unless it's amazing for the deck.

Yavimaya Elder -- I'm going to replace Kodama's Reach for him. For a few reasons he's technically better. Also I just like the card.

Phytotitan -- I'm strongly considering this guy. Even without Omnath out, this guy will be a real pain in the ass. In most cases, I'm going to want to kill him off haha.

Wave -- I'm really torn on this one. On one hand, I can see it being a nice middle finger to decks with a lot of enchants/artifacts, and it would serve as a nice piece of removal...On the other hand, I wonder if it's cost is too high that by the time I could cast it, it would be too late.

Mountain Valley -- I'm trying to keep as many basic lands in this deck as possible, but that is certainly an good one to consider if I choose to drop the count for some extra land procs.

Druidic Satchel -- I'm just not a big fan of this card for this deck. Can't really explain why, just a gut feeling I guess.

Loam -- Yup, I forgot Loam. I told you I made this deck too fast =P

I agree with your cards to take out as well, though I think from playing it a few times now, there are a few more that I will drop for more good stuffs, including a thing or two to keep Omnath a little more safe, since even after edits, this deck does use him a lot.

Thanks again for this constructive criticism dude. It's awesome =]

Wave of Vitriol is not just enchantment and artifact hate, it also kills off non-basics =>and replaces them with basics<= !!! Since you have your fare share of non-basics yourself this will trigger lots of landfall and similar effects in a fell swoop! Actually, with Omnath out this might mean game right then and there. The mana cost should be no problem for an effect like this, you have lots of ramp and, well, if you have the mana to cast Omnath, you also have the mana to cast Wave next turn ;)

Yeah I put it in and tried a few games with the changes, and I actually got Wave a few times and it worked like a charm.

Chandra, Flamecaller pops out two 3/1 hasting Elementals. I use her in my Standard Omnath deck. Her [-X] and [0] have been useful too, but I mostly use the [+1] for the Elementals.

Nissa, Vastwood Seer is good once she's been flipped, and it's easy to flip her. [+1] is effectively a draw, [-2] puts out a 4/4 Elemental, and [-7] turns six lands into 6/6 Elementals.

Sylvan Advocate is effectively a 2 mana 4/5 vigilance land lord (most of the time).

Dragonmaster Outcast is activated the same way as Sylvan Advocate. A 5/5 Dragon each turn is nothing to scoff at.

Devastating Summons is worth considering. Crucible of Worlds and Life From the Loam easily return the sacrificed lands.

Explore and Search for Tomorrow are two of my favourite land play cards.

I really like Chandra.

Devastating Summons is something I did consider as a big, flashy finish, but I think it's too risky. If I do it and then lose my ability to get those lands back, I'm sufficiently boned.
