Vorosh is kicked out of the "Awesome box". Maga kicks some serious ass.
Start off with a good field presence with low costing creatures and spells, but always keep the main focus on generating mana. Once you have a sizable chunk of mana available, play Maga and dump all the mana into him. Once Maga has been played, just swing away with him and your other creatures. If Maga dies, you can just do another mana dump and more than likely kill an opponent.

I'm proud SWN. I hate Vorosh... :P haha Maga is sick!

Hahaha, don't get me wrong, Vorosh is fun, he has a nice simplicity to him...Get him out and beat the crap out of people with him as he gets massive...last game I played with him he got up to a 32/32 before someone could finally get rid of him... Haga just looks like a hell of a lot of fun...and I hope to make this one of my faster ones =]
i'm surprised to not see gauntlet of power, caged sun, or magus of the coffers. and the lack of mana vault and the other two that i cant remember the names of (one of them is 0 for T: add 2, but it has at begginging of upkeep, flip a coin, & if u loose, loose two life. the other one is 2 for T: add 3, doesn't untap during untap, but u can pay 4 to untap). i feel like those could add a whole new level of danger.
I'm pretty sure those artifacts are banned from EDH, not positive though...And I wanted huge mana production, but I also wanted to be able to provide a steady stream of aggro and threats, and focusing too much on just the mana production would weaken that =]
None of them are...Just Moxen and Lotusen.
Aw, well still =/
Oh how I hate Maga, more so than Momir or Zur.
You've played against a Maga deck before?
Yeah, a royal pain in the ass.
How's this one stack up to the one you played? And yeah, he's a freakin beast
This one is better overall, but has less focus on the whole 'herpaderp, my general is firin' his laser!". And on the subject of Ashling, that's always been a deathtrap waiting to happen... She's the only reason I'd ever wish Experiment Kraj had a red mana symbol.
Other generals I plan to build with...(this is mostly to remind myself) Olivia Voldaren Isamaru, Hound of Konda Rhys the Exiled Kiku, Night's Flower Phelddagrif (I'm serious)
Bahaha isamaru, really? i've seen a really good hug deck using phelddagrif. The guy gets on your good side by helping everybody draw and gain creatures and play extra lands and next thing you know, there's no cards left in your deck.
Because of Commander/General damage, he's essentially a 4/2 "infect" for 1 cmc that is always auto-tutored to your "hand", has limitless recursion, and is in a color that banks on its ability to beef up little guys. Trust me, don't underestimate The Dog =]
One of my buddies has a Phelddagrif...it's hilarious. Kiku is Awz?, but what's with all your black generals? Rhys the exiled is a wierd one actually, because he has black in his rules. I think it should be able to use black though...if not, Nath? Also, you have to use Sanguine Bond in it or I will atempt to kill you through the internet!
Rhys the Exiled has a color identity of B/G because of his sacrifice ability, so yeah, I can use both colors...which is awesome. And yeah, Kiku looks like she'll be fun...I'm thinking it'll just be a disruptive kill-heavy deck =]
Kiku is a hilariously amusing general, it's great to have her versus Vorosh.(Go ahead, kill that guy over there, it will only make this better)
That was actually my inspiration to use her! Arty used her in his (God Damn) Maralen EDH against my Vorosh...Even though it sucked to lose my general, there's something very amusing about having a creature kick its own ass... Besides, I made a deal with another player (Using Ashling the Pilgrim) so that he would keep Maralen off the field in exchange for me not attacking him (I was cleaning house...Vorosh was a 38/36 Flying Trample)...so all in all not bad...But since that I've started trying to include her in any black EDH decks... On a side note...don't piss off someone running a well-built Ashling the Pilgrim EDH...otherwise KA-FREAKIN-BLAMO! and you're dead...
Rhys, the Exiled is an elfing good general (see what I did thar?). His life gain can be a royal pain to deal with, and there's enough elf pump to make him a significant threat. Let alone B/G being a powerhouse to begin with. I still want to build an Olivia deck but lost the impetus to do so since I never wound up buying a box of ISD.
I would usually use Rhys the Redeemed over exiled because there is so many ways to produce elf tokens, then he is a parallel evolution on a stick. But I am also partial to the G/W decks, so that may be me talking.
the only problem i'm getting with this deck is cards like propaganda. You should probably have some destroy enchantment cards in here (can't name any black ones off the top of my head though). And this deck gets going faster than other decks but once the other decks get going, the only way to win is either to overrun or have enough mana to win with maga. I suggest a couple more destroying cards.

There is no black enchantment removal except for mass removal and extraction. And according to the official EDH banlist neither mana vault or grim monolith (the other two) are banned in EDH. Anyway I just recently built a Maga deck ( http://www.mtgvault.com/EditDeck.aspx?DeckID=258998&DeckCardID=5941242 ) and I have to agree he is a beast =-)
Yeah I checked the list too. Even so, like I said I didn't want to over-focus the deck on just "herpaderp, my general is firin' his laser!" as WnB said, since that would lead to the deck being less effective over-all =]
Ok, my bad then.
ok i will ask since nobody else has, what the hell does 'koyaanisqatsi' mean? and i can not believe i missed that game! :( arty told me that ben took out everyone with ashling's explosion again. call me next time epic shit happens like that you bastard. >:( anyway, i can not wait to play this. teeg yet again will rape your face. :)
Hahaha double post =P Koyaanisqatsi means "Life out of balance" or "The crazy Life". I thought it was kind of fitting for Maga =] Fine, but next time you're puking your balls off like that, and I call you and say come on over to the shop, don't blame me...you asked for it. But yeah, I was all excited that Maga is under his 4 mana restriction...and then I remembered the "X" restriction and shouted "TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEG!" much like one might yell "KHAAAAAAAN!" That little bastard is insane in EDH -_-
How is Teeg a problem for Maga? He only prevents non-creature spells from being played.
Derp...Just ignore that hahaha...I now realize Wumps just meant his Teeg EDH will probably still out-pace this. Well it makes me happy to remember Teeg doesn't screw over creatures, had a brain fart =P
Holy F*** this is bad ass. Here, could you check out my deck. It's: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=259254
You should make a Standard EDH/Commander. Please check out my deck too if you have the time: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=255124
This deck looks good, I also play a mono black deck, I see you play my general in your deck as well: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=226091
Dat art on Maga... I'm astounded
I think it would be beneficial to try and squeeze in a Vesuva and maybe even a Deserted Temple. Copy Coffers/Crypt, summon Maga that much harder. Temple is kinda on the same vein, but it also has a nice synergy with the Port, both yours, and an opponents ;)
I could have sworn I put vesuva in here...well, thanks for the reminder =]
Hive stone? Just a thought for potential ramp
