Deck discussion for "If I am mad, it is mercy!"

Magus of the Disk is so bloody dirty with Athreos, I think I need a shower.

I know. When I was thinking of cards to add to this I remembered the Magus and laughed for a good ten minutes.

i kinda love that this is mostly a human tribal deck. flavor wise, it fits so well. i think you are also being very smart with the threat level of each creature in here. There are some creatures in here that the opponent might make the mistake of letting you return them to your hand, because they appear less threatening than losing 3 life, but in reality they will be a real pain. i want to play against this as soon as you put it together. :)

if the weather holds up and i can use your grill, i am thinking slow-grilled pork sirloins with a red pepper raspberry glaze and pineapple chutney, then a side of my legendary garlic onion potatoes (they have bacon in them too). you will love it. :)

So what do you all actually think of the deck? =P

Shriekmaw and Magus of the Disk are absolutely shenanigans, but Sadistic Hypnotist is what makes this go from being just plain mean, to the point where I'd probably focus this first.

Yeah, "Sad Hippie" as my group calls him is one of my very favorite black creatures. Basically in any deck that CAN use him, he becomes a serious problem for the opponent.

Telling someone to discard two cards is one thing, reminding them to pay 3 life or you'll do it again...Oh boy.

Yeah... Not a play I'd be happy to see, especially given that Athreos comes out beforehand.

Also, just caught onto the Lovecraft quote. This pleases me.

Hehe yeah, I thought it was the perfect quote for a human tribal EDH piloted by Athreos (aka Charon). Plus, H.P. Lovecraft quotes get bonus points =P

It's been really hard not to just go out and call him Charon all the time. Actually, this entire block has been kind of hard. I want to say spear of Peleus, or Gungnir every time somebody plays Heliod's Spear...
Lovecraft quotes get all of the bonus points.

Love what you did with this. Definitely stealing a few of these ideas. My only idea for this is that it seems like Mortician Beetle would fit nicely in here with all the sac mechanics going on.

I'm making a deck kind of like this, except it's mono black, and it's commander is shirei

I really like the look of your deck, and I hoping you can give me some pointers for mine

I could give a few pointers, but you should ask my buddy Quasimofo. He actually has a Shirei deck.

Vampire Hexmage is good for slapping around their planeswalkers, then they have to pay 3 life to make sure it doesn't come back.

Somehow I JUST saw this comment, but if you are still around to see this, know that I have a "sideboard" for this deck depending on who I'm playing, and Hexmage is a prominent member of that sideboard.

Dear and almighty surewhynot, I hope you can bless me with enough attention to check out following deck. It is not mine, but I hope you'll check it out anyways. I know how important it is to make new players willing to keep playing this wondrous game of MTG.
The "deck" is a bit rough around the edges, but it serves its purposes well.
