The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

I was given a bet to make a Spirit tribe that wasn't Orzhov colored. Well...Challenge accepted =P

It was hahaha. Spirits are my favorite creature type in the game, so it was not only easy, but fun =D

Also, the final product just murders, and god damn is Thief of Hope a monster in the deck, especially when I have multiples out =P

Oh, and I'll be sure to look at your Wizard tribal. Funny enough, we banned Wizards from our Tribal format last week...and probably should have done it sooner =P

haha thanks! mine probably isn't the best but its fun! also i'm going to assume your title is referring to the Pokemon gloom

Actually it isn't =P

I named it Gloom because that's what my buddies called B/G colored decks before Ravnica gave us Golgari. I figured that it fit the whole thing with a B/G Spirit deck =P

think one of the ghost Pokemon like ghastly or haunter would be more appropriate for the deck tho

but gloom is both poison and grass (black and green)

You did a nice job for a generic spirit deck. I've always loved the kamigawa soulshift mechanic. I Think you need more big creatures, the mana curve is low and i think you should have in there a Forked-Branch Garami and mabey an Arashi the Sky Asunder for protection from flyers.

Hey Mr. Whynot! I see you've been posting a lot of tribal decks lately. Is there some kinda tribal format I'm not aware of?

Also, I've got an Ally Deck that is pretty strong. Maybe you can take a look at it?

Not really a recognized one, but our shop has a house-rules format we just call "Tribal". We actually banned Allies =P

I'll take a look =]

There is an MTGO format called Tribal Wars. So there is actually a sort of official format.

"Tribal Wars is a casual Magic Online format that emphasizes creature combat: A player's deck must contain a minimum of sixty cards, and one-third of every deck must be of a single creature type. No sideboards are allowed in tribal formats.

Tribal Wars is based on the Legacy format, so all cards on Magic Online, including promo cards, are legal."

There's also a ban list, it can be found here:

A third?! Yikes...we have it as at least 10...but I actually like that better since it allows way more odd-ball tribes to be made =]

Like Germs :P

You have a well established format with players already knee deep in their own... meta! I was just pointing that out in case anybody else was interested in starting their own local Tribal format. The MTGO format seems like a good enough place to begin. I'd do so myself, but I'm already busy enough between my fiancee moving in and trying to start up a paper modern league ^-^

I'm curious, are there any different rules for your format?
Also, I've got a wolf deck of my own, its not quite as scary as yours, but its progressing. Mind taking a look?

Yeah we have some specific cards banned (because they abuse/destroy tribes too easily), and we also have some tribes banned. Wolves aren't banned, but Elves are, so I actually can't use my Elf/Wolf deck =P

I'll be sure to check out your deck, as it might also give me some ideas on how to make a singularly Wolf deck =P

Speaking of which, I'd like to see what a budget 10L would look like (if possible, if not then as close to as can be managed). So, stuff like Rancor is peachy, but no Cradles, Goyfs, or Berserks. Think you can do it, Wumps?

i could most likely do it, yes. without gaea's cradle though is nigh impossible to be blunt. :| i will get to work on some ideas. :)

Awesome ^-^ I'm kicking myself in the ass now, looking back at the FTV set that had Berserk in it.. I should have bought 4 boxes while they were only $35 instead of $100 as they are now :3 I want to add another stompy deck to my collection, but don't want to spend the $400 or so like yours :P And I'm out of good ideas to make it function >.>

finished. :) this is as inexpensive as i could make it without sacrificing too much. it will still put up a hell of a fight without berserk or tarmogoyf, but there is a reason those cards make up over 3/4's the cost of Bumf**k. :P

Dual lands are regarded as Basic even though they are obviously pretty advanced. It's one of the better things about them really =]

So actually, it does work, and can target...8 lands =]

0
Posted 13 August 2011 at 03:05

Are you sure about that? I'm about 99% sure that "basic land" means either Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, or Forest. As in the name of the card. If an ability calls for such as "for a forest or plains" then and only then can you "cheat" in non-basics, provided they have either/or the plains or forest subtype.

0

Dual lands are nonbasic... only lands that have basic as part of their supertype are basic. Verdant Catacombs can search for a Bayou, but Terramorphic expanse can't. That's part part of the reason fetch are worth more than 10 cents...lol.
