Deck Description

This will probably be my last Stompy deck for a while now. With this one I wanted to see if I could take some Eldrazi cards and make a Stompy deck with them. Turns out it is pretty hard to make an Eldrazi-based Stompy deck. All that said, I was pretty pleased with the (eventual -_-) results. Normally, I would never use Growth Spasm, but in this deck the Spasm has made me happy, and does its job.

My other Stompy decks:

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=122864 <---Stompy with Vengevine in it. That Vengevine just keeps coming.

Deck discussion for Eldrazi Stomp

I like it, but it just seems a bit shaky. I see it being great, but it needs a little more spawn power I think to really justify the broodwardens.
If you change the Noble Hierarch for some birds, it'd be about the optimal standard stompy. I just think it could use some work before extended or legacy.

Well this was quite honestly a challenging Stompy to make. I was also a bit hesitant on the broodwardens, and might take them out now that I think about it. It might just be better for me to forget about using them to fight at all (4 hands costs 16 spawns, which is exactly how many I can make, so boosting them is moot).

Thanks man. =]

Hand of Emrakul should not be in a deck unless our playing him by sac'ing 4 spawn... Run Ulamog's Crusher or It That Betrays instead. I don't think Noble Hierarch is that good in a mono-color deck, Elvish Archduid would be better. For your lands, you gotta run a minimum of 2x Eye of Ugin and 4x Edrazi Temple. No question. Skittering Invasion would also be a nice card in this deck.

Yeah I'm only playing the Hands for their 4 spawn cost. A 7/7 annihilator 1 for basically 4 mana is pretty Stompy =]

I suppose I could change it around for the Archdruids.

As for the lands, I was going to use them, but then realized they are specific to Colorless Eldrazi stuff only...and I'm not paying the normal price for Hand. However, you might have given me an idea with Skittering Invasion.

How do you think running 1 Eye, and 3 Temples with 2 Invasions and 2 Eldrazi Monuments? Ugh...You'd think Eldrazi would be easy to make Stompy.

Oh, I didn't think you were going to do it that wa because I have never really seen a mass-spawn deck that wasn't GR (Blood Birthing ftw), plus you don't have Awakening Zone. I would still drop the Hands for something better... Artisan of Kolizek maybe?

Oh damn, you probably wrote this before I did the complete reworking of the deck. Now I have it how I want it I think. I figured out the problem I was having with the Hand...It's a Fat-stomp! I should have noticed that, and because I didn't, the 4 in there (versus the 2 max I should have had) made me screw up all the other stuff.

Now I like it. Maybe throw in an Eldrazi Conscription or two?

The huge-ass enchantment? No way man, not Stompy at all (also frickin' overkill)

Not if you treat if like a creature. Think of it this way: Eldrazi Conscription is your biggest stomper. But since its actually an enchantment, it is MORE useful. No Eldrazi has trample right? What If you throw Eldrazi Conscription on a Gurrak's Companion? He gets "upgraded" to being an eldrazi, but he has trample.

I suppose in that sense you have a point. Sadly, I already used my two possible Fat-stomp "slots" for the Hands, and I just go to town with those dudes. =]

They are, and I use them in one of my Stompy decks in fact. They just didn't seem to fit this one. And I made this in hopes to use show it to a buddy who's going to a standard tourney.

hey man another great stompy, wtf is that guys beef ?, he clearly demands attention lol, cant offer to much advise as your awreness of stompy is far greater than mine and i dont want to suggest things that are outside of the deck profile what i will do is comment on the cards that are in here and have been discussedalready, to give some feedback, i think with all the spawn that khali hydra was a dead cert and gives the deck a 2nd concept as well as stompy so thumbs up there i really like the landfall artifact its ability for its mana cost is right up there, and fits in with the stompy side, and i love infiltration lens the best card drawer around i find it partciualy usefull on bigger cretures as they simply have to block and the good thing about this stompy deck is that you have such creatures so i think thats a wise choice !.

if you havnt already and you find time take a look at my eldrazi machine gun fodder deck and swamp amigos as im quiet excited by them thanks good buddie

and yourve shown great versatility with this one well done i like it a lot.

Thanks fluff. I'm not sure why he posted that, but I hope my response clears up any tension that may have, for whatever reason, come up. =/

I'm glad you like this one. It was a chore to build, and I usually love making Stompy decks (as if it wasn't obvious =P) so this positive feedback is a nice reward for that.

As I said in the previous post, I will be gone for a while on vacation, but I will try to check out your decks if/when I get a chance. =]

I like the use of Infiltration Lens, actually. I've used it an infect deck, but I like this idea.

Have you thought about using Wolfbriar Elemental in a stompy deck? I think it pairs nicely with the elves mana ramp and the Hydra. I played a similar deck before and being able to bring out the hydra for 2 mana or less many times. lol With the Overwhelming Stampede in there, this reminds me very much of my first deck. I love it! lol :D

I'm pretty new to magic and looking to get better. Could you take a look at my deck and give some suggestions? Thanks :)

Question: you talk in a few of these post as if you power up your spawn tokens with oran-rief land, but doesn't that only work on green creatures? unless I missed something and spawn tokens are not colorless like the card says.

Also you say you use the spawn tokens to subtract the cost of the hydra and yet again that is only from green creatures and the spawn tokens are colorless.

I hope I'm wrong because I really like this deck and have the cards to build it for myself or at least come close.

Yeah I realized afterward that I was wrong about that. The hydra doesn't have creature affinity, it has GREEN creature affinity...=/

Still, the spawns get boosted when I need them to be (sometimes I attack with them too even if they're 0/1's so that if one gets through, I can pump the hell out of it =P) and they work nicely for paying for lots of creatures, which...in a way helps with the hydra.

If you are planning to make this deck, don't let those things stop you, this is still a very fun and powerful deck =]

Interesting... Never thought about using Eldrazi Spawns in this way.

I was wondering, could you take a look at the Eldrazi Spawn deck that I'm helping my friend make? It gets Eldrazi spawns out insanely fast...
