I always wanted to do something like this (heavily lands-based deck) with an EDH deck, so I figured what better general than Genju of the Realm. My group plays by an augmented general rule. This means that any permanent that can become a legendary creature can be used as a general.

I enjoy what I see, but I must say I find a distinct problem with Planar Birth. You have only a smattering of basic lands, so it will oft be a burden more than helpful.

Good point. Fixed it =]
What general should I use if my playgroup doesn't allow the Genju as a general?
You mean for a Lands deck or for a rainbow general?
Any of the other 5 five colored. Go with Child of Alara.
Scapeshift, Life from the Loam, and Seedborn Muse should be added. Umbra Mystic would be nice to save your enchanted lands. The new card Realm Seekers from conspiracy could be good for fetching.
Nice call on Umbra Mystic. It will come in handy for sure =]
You know I've never seen two of the things in this deck done successfully before. You've made Genju look fun in practice rather than just theory, and you've made Draco a viable win condition. https://i.imgur.com/35nK91d.gifhttps://i.imgur.com/0OAS6Hj.gif
Yeah, I'm pretty please with how it turned out. Finally can use my fancy boxes too =]While I'm also very happy that I got Draco to be a win-con, I still think my favorite is the simple act of equipping Genju of the Realm with Civic Saber and/or Chromanticore and smashing face with my spirit world barfing frog god.
But lands are Colorless... :P
Yea, saber won't benefit from equipping to a land.
Of course that's your reason, fancy boxes. Haha! And they're right sadly, it doesn't work with Genju. Would be awesome if it did though.
._.I...knew...that. Man, I've been making stupid mistakes like that a lot lately. I think I need a vacation.
Just remember, the brain has a limited storage capacity, and once you pass that point you start overwriting. You probably just overwrote that with rock folds :P
I do love me some fold structures =]Now to find a good equipment to replace the saber...
Decided on Sword of Kaldra because of its shenanigans combined with trample.
You know...This deck could have a lot of political power in multiplayer games. Those enchantments can enchant any land, so you could make an ally and give them a genju or zendikon. Heck, with all my red generals you could usually give me an Awaken the Ancient. ;)
I just noticed that, given the perfect storm of luck, and preparation, you have an infinite turn combo.https://i.imgur.com/35nK91d.gif
I've already had it happen haha. It was pure shenanigans.
I would put Sundial of the Infinite of the Infinite and Unwinding Clock in just to laugh if I were in your group after that.
Purely for the lulz of course.By the way, Arty got his Horobi EDH showcased on Top and Go Productions (and found out it needed a few fixes >__>). You should check it out =P
Ooo, that's pretty awesome! I'm going to have to watch that.
I'm actually surprised you never commented on the deck itself...Seems right up your alley.
add gaea's balance?
The video was awesome, and quite informative. Pretty cool. Also, I don't know how I managed to never do that... >_>
Yeah, they always do a great job. Unfortunately for the rest of us, some guy suggested Nefashu to Arty and he put it in. Nefashu is not fair with Horobi out =[
Nefashu is one of those things I've always wanted to see be epic, but never did, and was beginning to believe it was impossible. Now we know. That's a nasty combination, and I absolutely love it.
As JensDagon already suggested, a Unwinding Clock, but with Mycosynth Lattice creates nice shenanigans for you (although, watch out for Imi Statue!)btw I really like your house rule, that anything Legendary could fit as Commander. I'm going to pitch that idea with those I play with =)On the deck, I think it's a great idea, and Burgeoning would fit right as rain - moar land drops !You get a +1 from me for sheer ingenuity =)
Yeah it's spread from being a house rule, to a shop rule, and now a few nearby local shops have adopted it too. For ease of pitching it to your buds, here is the official rule:*The Augmented General rule*Any of the five Nephilim may be permitted as a general, but shall be treated as though legendary (The 'Legend Rule' will destroy them). In addition, any permanent or group of permanents that can, at any time, become or produce a legendary creature may be permitted as a general. These permanents are to begin in the Command Zone in their original state. When these permanents are returned to the Command Zone for any reason, they are returned in their original state as well. Permanent groups, such as the Kaldra Items, must all begin in their original state in the Command Zone and be returned to the Command Zone in their respective original states. These groups of permanents may be cast from the Command Zone individually, or as a whole. The mana tax for returning to the Command Zone will only apply to one of the permanents in the group, to be chosen at the start of the game.If a permanent that produces a legendary creature (which serves as the general) is removed from the battlefield, but the legendary creature is not, it will not be able to return to the Command Zone until the legendary creature (i.e., general) is removed from the battlefield as well. The permanent or group of permanents that become or produce the legendary creature (that is to be used as a general) are used to determine said general's color identity.I think that's the whole thing. =]
At first it sounded complicated, but it made sense when it's read ^_^ Sounds like something a level 3 Judge would've thought of, bravo.
Had to search "Wooberg""I talked earlier about the word "Wooberg". Well, what the heck does that mean, and what does it have to do with Progenitus? Well, Wooberg is how you pronounce the five mana abbreviations when they are lined up in a 'rainbow' deck. = WUBRG":) Sound familiar?I love the Prismatic Omen, with Draco. It was just a small detail I noticed.
Haha, it's been a while since I wrote articles. Good times. Yeah Draco is pretty sweet in here. It's not often you can really use it as a win-con, so having it in here makes me happy =]
use scion of the ur-dragon!
Scion with mycosynth lattice and tyrant dragon! take all thier perminants.
But see, that's just one really unlikely combo. After that those three cards add almost nothing to the deck.
unfortunately i dont have time for any lengthy comment at the moment, so i'll just suggest earth surge. love the deck!
Just going by your playgroup's rules: Genju of the Realm doesn't become a creature, the land does. But it looks interesting
Right, but the enchantment is what makes the land into a creature. So it's ultimately the enchantment (Genju of the Realm) that produces a legendary creature. I kinda see what you're saying, because it's one non-creature turning another non-creature INTO a creature...so it's a little bit odd.
