Deck Description

I think it's pretty self-explanatory.

Got the deck idea from lonker on tappedout.net.

How to Play

Mulligan for Treasure Hunt, play land. Next turn, play another land, pass. Next turn, cast Treasure Hunt, put all cards revealed in your hand, play Reliquary Tower. Next turn, play mountain or Boseiju, hopefully you have the right mana, and cast Lightning Storm, sacking all the lands in your hand to deal game-ending damage.

Deck discussion for The Stupidest Deck That Wins

My friend you’ve lied to me for me this is a pretty highly intelligent deck

Well, thank you. I thought it was stupid how good and how smart it was. I think I'm going to build it soon.

Oh it’s definitely that kind of stupid but if you want the other kind of stupid I’m here

Well, this has been around forever with variations like Land's Edge which I think is superior, but in the end, all versions are "stupid" :)

Yes I once even saw a commander version

Ah, perhaps this could somehow be adapted to a battle of wits version!

Last week we had a similar deck.
It used mystic sanctuary to get it's instant and sorceries.
I also gave the designer the advice to use: (second wincon)
3 blinkmoth nexus
2 dread statuary
4 mutavault
13 mountain
4 dryad arbor

There's another version of this deck called zombie hunt. Zombie Infestation

Interesting... that could be a fun one.

Zombie version will lack the land that allows you to search for an ins/sor

wickeddarkman Wtf are you talking about... Mystic Sanctuary doesn't search for anything...

True that, have misread the card first time I saw it :)
Anyone knowing the name of ponderland?
But mystic sanctuary may reuse both treasure hunt and lightning storm, it can't reuse zombie infestation.

Halimar Depths? If you mulligan until you get Treasure Hunt you really don't need to manipulate the top of your deck.

1

Thanx, and I rarely mulligan.
I use decks with a low rate of mulligans

You do you. The thought behind the deck is fun but good luck winning any tournaments with it.

Ah, this deck is a hybrid of the builds I've seen so far,
Which was why I misread the sanctuary.

I'm into much better odds than that deck, and my involvement in it is basically because half of this version is from another deck of mine where you can basically build up thousands of decks based on a certain manabase and get a decent deck out of it. The highlander project (there can be only one, manabase)

you can also replace storm with jace/thassa oracle/awaken the erstwhile

you dump 20 mana into lightning storm for 43 damage, you oppenent can dump one mana into the spell and do 45 back at you. you're right, this is a stupid deck.

And what exactly would that be? Redirect? Because my particular playgroup has exactly zero Redirect in their collection.

the spell says you can choose new targets

1
Posted 07 May 2020 at 20:19

You are going to have access to significantly more land cards in your hand than this person has in their entire deck, so them discarding lands won't get close to measuring up to your ability to redirect the Storm at them.

1

What you have to do is grab just enough to kill them +2 lands and save some lands for redirection

1

Precisely. Thanks for the wording.

the spell says our opponent can add to the spell. discard land, add counters, may choose new target. this says to me that after your opponent drops a land, he can throw it back into your face. besides, if the spell isnt countered, this trick will only work once and people will start holding lands forthe throwback.

Swans of Bryn Argoll + Seismic Assault is other option in this deck,

That combo redesigns the deck into something completely different.
Bringing up the seismic assault family reminds me that zombiebombardment has gained another card. Weaponize the monsters.

SuperMegaPanda, thank you for this creation. I got 4x treasure hunt and 2x lightning storm. I didn't get the Bosejiu or Reliquary because me and my friends play casually and don't have a hand size maximum and my friends don't play control (yet).
Considering making a couple changes and adding a couple cards, though I need to think really hard and consider only the perfect ones that won't break the engine that this has.
I made this deck mainly as a prank for my friends and I can't wait to try it :P

I was actually thinking. 2xFathom Trawl, 2xFling, and 2xSturmgeist, 4xtreasure hunt, 2xlightning storm.
Using Treasure Hunt and Fathom Trawl you can get all the cards you need. With Sturmgeist at an insane power and toughness you can use fling to sacrifice him and demolish your enemy.
It's just an idea, but it could work, however much more complicated than simply discarding lands for instant damage and that might mess it up completely. So I'm just going to stick with what it has already.

That is kind of brilliant, to be honest. I love the additional use for the search cards. My only real concern is the fact that Fathom Trawl costs 5 mana instead of Treasure Hunt's 2, which would definitely slow the game down as far as trying to get the wincon in hand. It's a bit more of a troll than the original deck, but your opponents may very well kill you before 5 turns are up and you can cast Fathom Trawl. And while it may not decrease the chance of drawing a Treasure Hunt while mulliganing, I just feel like it could be a problem for the main purpose of the deck. However, the statistics may be all wrong. Whatever the case, I think that's a pretty smart addition. And to sorennat000, I say you're very welcome.

I made a battle of wits treasure hunt deck, and it always loses, because it’s to slow usually losing turn 5 right after I get battle of wits out

Sounds about right.

0

I agree. The mana cost of Fathom Trawl really changes the game plan of the deck because you would probably want some sort of defense while you get the cards you need. So sticking with what you have here is great.
I saw a video on youtube of this guy playing a variation of this deck. I think it was 3 Treasure Hunt, a Thassa's Oracle, and 4 Mystic Sanctuarys. So you basically draw yourself out and use the Oracle to win the game. And I think I am going to buy Thassa's Oracle and Mystic Sanctuary to put into the sideboard or something, or in case someone counters Treasure Hunt.

That sounds like it would be pretty fun, sometimes mixing it up in your playgroup. I can see some serious potential there.
