My friend loves red decks and has been kicking my butt with them. I'm not as familiar with white decks but white seems to have the most protection from red options. So this is what I've come up with, any ideas to make it better? His red deck is very fast, so cmc needs to be low for me to keep up with him.

I'm assuming since yall are friends yall just play with any cards. I'm not that big outisde of standard but I've been playing for awhile to know of some decent cards. Look into Brave the Elements and Faith's Shield. Also, you can maybe run a mono white control deck which would give you access to Iona, Shield of Emeria.

Yeah, it's pretty casual between us. Brave the Elements and Faith's Shield look good, I bring them and tinker around with them. Iona, Shield of Emeria I think just has too high a cmc. Unless there's some trick to getting her out I'm not aware of.
Mass Calcify
Good card effect but CMC is just too high. If I haven't won by turn seven I've lost.
Lower T creatures without Protection from Red are kinda a liability: red's big strength is its early-game aggro. The Firewalkers and Forge-tenders should hopefully help stifle that. Look into True Believer or some sort of "you can't be the target of spells or abilities", otherwise he's just going to burn straight by your creatures and hit you instead. Absolute Law isn't doing a whole lot if half your creatures already have Protection. I see you're going for a kinda horde thing to mitigate that but cards like Pyroclasm are going to be your downfall if that's the case. It's a tossup: stick with Absolute Law and the horde thing or drop it and try to find more creatures with natural protection. Sword of Fire and Ice, and Sword of War and Peace are both options, though they'll hit your bank account like a three-legged rhino in a china shop. Carom is probably a better trick than Hallow. Never underestimate the power of 'draw a card'. edit: Swiftfoot Boots! Anything with "hexproof" or "shroud" in the text is the bane of removal decks.
Man I forgot all about Leyline of Sanctity. That card killed red decks when it was in standard.
Leyline of Sanctity looks good.StrategicMuffinExhausted, I know exactly what your saying. I was conflicted about doing the whole a protect from red plus a horde of tokens. Generating tokens seemed liked a good way to boost my life with Auriok Champion. Some of the spells in my friend's deck are designed to bypass my creatures and/or just go straight for my throat. So I thought it might help to beef up my life so if I needed to take a hit I could. That's why hallow looks so appealing to me. I'd love to cancel one of his big hurt spells and gain life equal to all the damage he was going to do to me.I do think you got a point about Absolute Law, same principal may apply to Intangible Virtue. My other problem is while I think a have a lot of ideas (thanks everyone) about how to stop him hurting me how do I kill him? Where's my win condition. I was toying with the idea of token generation and then just nibble away at him. But is there another way? A better way?Another question I have is this, is white even the right color to shut down a fast red deck? I thought about trying a Blue control or mill deck? Any thoughts on what the best route would be?
White is the right answer to shut down anything period, that is why majority of decks run it. U/W control is a very good deck for this. Does your friend beat you with burn or aggro? If he beats you with burn then Leyline of Sanctity just kills his entire deck cause red cannot deal with enchantments well. If he beats you down with aggro look into Wrath of God/Day of Judgment/Supreme Verdict.
He favors burn.
Okay tweaked some things. Still looking for ways to end him though.
You can only have 15 cards in your sideboard man lol but it's casual play between you and your friend so no biggie. She doesn't have protection from red but look into Baneslayer Angel. Although if you want a creature with protection from red then look into Akroma, Angel of Wrath
Yeah I know, I'm just using it to store random ideas while I mess with the formula. :)
I agree with AZ88, Akroma, Angel of Wrath should be your finisher.
Could work, now that I have a deck to keep me alive long enough to get out higher cmc cards.
Add some lifegain - Elixir of Immortality. If you can get old cards try Justice- hurts red badly, Circle of Protection Red, , Blessed Reversal, and Story Circle. The early core sets always had hoser cards in them so check out lists for Revised, 4th and 5th edition sets for cards that hurt red decks. There are also red cards that hose white - Flashfires etc.. A more "honest " way to beat red is with better creatures and vigilance. Wall of Swords EX. creatures with large Toughness and Doublestrike and Pump enchantments like Honor the Pure. Blunt the early rush and build creatures that eventually break through. Check out white decks on this site and see what creatures they are playing...
Honor of the Pure is good to hold off against red aggro. There are tons of ways around mono red decks but as Geezer stated, red has answers for white. Since you said he favors burn then Leyline of Sanctity should buy you a lot of time cause he can't target you.
Ah, geezer what fun is there in being "honest?" besides he's being pounding away at me with his deck, it's time to turn the tables. And forcing him out of his comfort zone into experimenting with other cards to find answers to mine is half the fun we have. It's an arms race. There is always a counter to everything. This is mine for him. I'll let him worry about the counter stroke, and then when it comes I'll work on an answer for that. It keeps things fresh.By the way everyone thanks for all the great advise, it has helped a lot. Still open for other suggestions if there are any.
Think I'll have to track down some Justice cards. Thanks Geezer.
Glad to help'. Justice is a great casual card - try to pick up four. You can always slight it by adding blue to your deck (Whim of Volrath etc.) to hose any mono-color deck your opponent may be playing.
Absolute Law
Thanks, it was in there but as StrategicMuffinExhausted pointed out it was redundant since almost all my creatures have protection from red already. Plus I got spells and Burrenton Forge-Tender to shield creatures from red.
