Deck Description

Decided to try & make a deck that would stomp in a tournament or local play. Ogres are sick and with the right ones there is potential. You can pull of a Turn 5 win, possibly 4. As always, let me know what ya' think!

Deck discussion for Ogre Storm

Well engineered deck. I do enjoy a good offbeat theme, and haven't seen an ogre deck in a long time. As always, my concern with speed and mana production comes into play with some minor suggestions. Potentially adding in some Chrome Moxes would speed the deck up considerably, along with a Ruby Medallion or two to speed up the red side. Also, since Hidetsugu's Second Rite seems very situational, I would probably not include so many. Perhaps removing one or two of them to make room for something else would make your deck more efficient. Good luck!

Hey Kaz, thanks for the input boss! But the Hidetsugu's is going to stay @ 4 because of Markov & the other sources, such as burn damage or Heartless Hidetsugu (Which I should probaby throw 2x more of Hidetsugu in there to help increase chances, as well as 2x Seething.

As far as the Ruby Medallion or Chrome Mox, I'll look at that today when I get some time. I'm gettin' ready to go down into the city for the day, don't really have all that much time right now. But later on, I'll see what I can't do. Thanks for the suggestions! Those are some good ideas to check out. Just don't be mad if I keep this deck untouched; I think this is very sexual as is, lol.

I understand Chandra Naalar, but not ablaze and I under stand the Sorin Markov there, Onslaught looks good especially with the massive amounts of orges the Kazuul can produce. I'd drop the cairns and just add two more dragonskull summit's. Sideboard suggestions... drop the crumbling NEcro and Savage lands and put 4 blightnings in there.

Well the other lands on the sideboard are to pull out Fire-Field while tryin' to balance mana. Chandra is there to help bring them down to 10 even if they were @ 14 for example to use Hidetsugus Second Rite. But thinkin' back on it, the Graven Cairns are to help colorless & doesn't come in tapped.

So would you suggest I make it 2x on Chandra Naalar then? But w/ the Cairns, if Firefield asks for a Blue mana, I can't use it for the colorless to cover it, can I? Hmm... Yeah, I think I will swap graven for Dragonskulls. And the Savage Lands are for the Beastmaster & Bountiful Harvest on sideboard. Necropolis is for the Fire-Field Ogre & his ability.

Let me take out Graven Cairns & up the Dragonskulls for now.

Good improvement, but i'm tellin ya, blightning is a must if you're playing red/black. A bolt to the face and discard two cards? brutal

Hmm... let me think here. *snaps fingers* Got it! Lightning & Bountiful Harvest are gone. I can gain life w/ Markov. I'll keep the Beastmaster for the Ogres. So I drop 2x Light, 2x Bount & add 4x Blightning!

Nicely done... i would ditch beastmaster's ascension, it'll take too long before you drop enough orges for it to work, it's too much of a situational thing, i'd put lightning bolt in it's place.

Well then that's essentially takin' out all my green use. So, take out Savage lands & put what in it's place? Unless you can think of another Green to use w/ this deck, but the whoel point of green was orignally for the Stream & & Beastmaster. So... maybe something nice on Black or Red to compliment this one even further, or a good Red/Black card to combat something I may encounter on 1st match to swap out to?

I was thinking of instead of "DRAGONSKULL SUMMIT" you should replace it with 3 "RAKDOS CANARIUM" for the fact of 2 mana per tap even though you return a land when you play it, this will speed up mana by 1, and its a 4.5% probability that you get these, you should be close to all the mana you need. Also, i dont beleive that "KONDAS BANNER" is that great when you could add 2 "SHIV'S EMBRACE" for the +2 +2 and flying, plus adding +1 attack for tapping one, with the same mana cost, plus you can use shivs embrace with any monster vs. being limited to 2 out of 60 cards. Comon, whats more scarier then an ogre with wings?!

Interesting idea, but maybe that's somethin' you should think about makin', an ogre-deck w/ that in it. This one is finalized, although I appreciate what you have said; I'll think about it. But rarely do I change. I'll check 'em out & see, but I doubt I'll be changing this one anymore. So what did you actually think of the deck aside from just things you would do differently? ;P
