Deck Description

As the name implies, this deck is built around Jarad, and uses his ability to sacrifice creatures and deal damage to all opponents equal to the sacrificed creature's strength.

How to Play

The idea is to use the scavenge mechanic, Death's Presence, and Phytoburst to beef up your creature's strength, then sac the creatures to damage opponents.

Main characters:

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord: He's the centerpiece. This deck is built around his mana ability.

Corpsejack Menace: doubles the number of +1/+1 counters on your creatures from any source. He'll be making scavenge and Death's Presence really work for you.

Varolz the Scar Striped: Makes all creatures in your graveyard scavenge for their mana cost. Allows you to scavenge more economically and really put counters out.

Lotleth Troll: Your main blocker with 1b regenrate. You can discard cards with scavenge (slitherhead) to put counters on the troll, then scavenge to boost him more. Once he hits ten, blow him up.

Supporting cast:

Daggerdrome Imp: Flying with Lifelink. Cheap target for counters, and adds to your life.

Crowned Ceratok: He's a big beastie that gives your creatures with counters Trample.

Dreg Mangler: Haste and Scavenge bg3

Sewer Shambler: Scavenge b2

Sluiceway Scorpion: Deathtouch and Scavenge bg1

Slitherhead: Scavenges for 0

Enchantments:

Death's Presence: Lets you add the power of creatures that die to other creatures you control, permanently.

Sorceries:

Phytoburst: Beefs up creatures for attack, defense, or sacrifice

Treasured Find: For getting whatever you want back from your graveyard. Most likely to get Putrify or Phytoburst.

Instants:

Crypt Incursion: Boosts your life, and exiles creatures from your opponent's graveyard. You know, in case he's playing scavenge too.

Putrify: Removes pesky artifacts and creatures. As a bonus, they can't be regenerated.

Your objective is to get Jarad, Corpsejack, and Death's Presence, on the table, along with some other creatures. Sac 1 creature, add it's power to the next + scavenge, then sac creature 2, rinse and repeat. This may take successive turns.

For example, the above named are on the battlefield with a Dreg Mangler, Crowned Ceratok, and Sewer Shambler.

a. Sac Sewer Shambler for 2 damage to all opponents. Using Death's Presence and Corpsejack, add +4/+4 to the Dreg Mangler. Scavenge the Shambler onto the Mangler, adding another +4/+4. Dreg Mangler is now 11/11.

b. Sac Dreg Mangler for 11 damage to all opponents (13 total so far). Add +22/+22 to the Ceratok, scavenge the Mangler for another +6/+6, Making the Ceratok 32/31.

c. ... you get the idea.

Deck discussion for Jarad's Howitzer

I like your deck build, but you are relying to much on specific cards. You need a stronger source for killing your creatures, you only have 10 cards in here that can send cards to your graveyard without an opponent helping you (4 of which you probably don't really want to be wasting on your own creatures. Here is my recommendation:

Deck:
Remove the scorpions for 2 mor manglers
Take out the crypt incursions to add 2 vampiric rites because you want your creature to be in the graveyard until you activate their abilities, plus you still gain life and in addition you get card draw and more creatures in the yard
Take out 2 imps for 2 hardened scales for more counters
take out a slitherhead to add one more phyto burst

Then for the sideboard I'd just do some removal and some land and maybe some more enchantments for counters
