It's nice that it's free to cast but having it eat my entire next turn is kind of a turn off. I've thought about possibly sideboarding it but for now it's a no.

For modern that's still well within budget range, especially since having a Cavern of Souls out can be what wins you the game. It makes more sense to me to have what I'd considered to be the best version of it posted and let people build around that if they want to try the same deck type at lower cost.

Haven't got a chance to test it out yet but I did find a nice Tiny Leaders/Commander combo using Hanna, Ship's Navigator. You need her, Second Chance, and Spellskite (or any cheap card that can give you controlled life loss). One you have all 3 on the field take your life below 5, then you get infinite turns because Hanna can keep fishing it out of the grave and replaying it every turn if you have the 6 mana to pull it off.

Simian Spirit Guide would work for a quick red ramp and Mind Stone can have some decent utility as a turn 2 ramp and you can sac it later for draw power.

You sound quite knowledgeable about the deck type, could you possibly suggest an alt win-con for it? From talking to a friend it does seem like a week combo if someone were to Surgical Extraction my combo piece for example.

Yeah trying to keep keep it modern legal, I can tap the Civilized Scholar if they do it once the Leveler hits but yeah, Gush would be great to protect him if I could use it. I had Fathom Seer in there for almost the same effect but it seemed a bit too slow since I had to play it for 3 first.

Augur seems like a great replacement for Taigam's Scheming as it gives a similar function as well as dropping in a decent blocker. I agree the Laboratory Manic is looking unprotected, Pact of Negation looks great but I'm also considering Swan Song as I can then cast Drift of Phantasms to block the swan it'd produce. I also realized Cavern of Souls would be great for calling Human as well as Juggernaut ensure my two combo pieces can hit the field.

Thanks for the advice, it was quite helpful!

Yeah, I was feeling like I need to be drawing more through the deck faster. I believe Ponder is banned but Preordain is definitely a card that will find it's way into the deck. Halimar Depths is a card I'm also strongly considering but I'm not sure if coming in tapped is going to slow me down too much. Thanks for the ideas, they're definitely helpful!
