Deck Description

One way to gain respect in prison is to take out the biggest guy there.
In Magic, Jund is the biggest dude in the room. Olivia, Thragtusk, Thundermaw, and other big threats and burn scare off many players for some reason. My answer is Bant. Bant tokens to be specific. To be even more specific Selesnya charm. Selesnya charm is a Swiss army scalpel. Paired with Snapcaster, it's a hammer that ruins the fun of Junk, Jund, and any deck using big beats to get in.
My friends were claiming that no one has a good match up against Jund especially me since most of my creatures are tokens for Olivia to ping to death or steal. I claim the opposite. I love seeing a happy Jund player ping all my tokens to become a 5/5 only to be exiled, and give me a clean board to swing in next turn. Another great feeling is to see an opposing Thragtusk run head first into a 6/6 Wurm token with vigilance and watch at the 3/3 left behind fails to hold the line against the trampling tank on the next combat phase. Thundermaw Hellkite? Second verse same as the first, put them in play and I’ll put them in a hearse.
Then my friends jump to control as my bad match up. “Terminus and Supreme Verdict,” they cry. Those cards don't scare me at all with my mainboard silence ready to pseudo-counter any miracle and blind cast on turns 4 or 5 to disrupt the control clock. Rootborn defenses also ruins the control player's day when they see they've played right into it and let me expand my board state even further.
Now my actual permanents that stick to the board are threats most don’t want to or can’t deal with they way they normally would. My Thragtusk can gain me upwards of 8 life with Trostani in play. It can also net me 2 3/3’s with Parallel lives on top of it just being a great beat stick. Geist brings in 4/4’s on turn 4 and consistently two 5/5s with Intangible Virtue and Parallel Lives as turn 2 and 4 plays sandwiching Giest on turn 3. Voice brings me an army of gigantic X/X’s in very short order or even just 2 damage a turn with players un able to deal with the token and hoping for pillar of flame.
Now for sideboard fun! Azurious charm and Feeling of dread slow agro to a halt and leave them open for my counter attack. Scavenging Ooze will come in to counter opposing snaps and reanimation strategies. Witchbane Orb stops mill and burn. And for a spicy bit of fun Progenitor Mimic gives me unlimited tokens of things like Angel of Serenity, Thragtusk, and Thundermaw. Curse of echoes makes and w/u/x deck cry as I gain their sphinx’s revelations and render counter spells dead. Pithing needle shuts off opposing walkers and sacrifice outlets for the human reanimation decks and aristocrats.
Bant token is a deck that has the potential to be amazing and do great things but with Theros on the horizon I feel like the deck will never get the praise it deserves. I plan to take this to the Baltimore Open and I’m hoping to show the metagame that the biggest deck in the room brings friends to the fight and a lot of them.
