Deck Description

A Deck intended for play on MTGO in Standard format. I have always loved the Skirsdag High Priest, wanted to make a deck based around him. Tips are always appreciated.

How to Play

Lay out tokens to sacrifice for the Skirsdag High Priest morbid proc. There is quite a bit of removal, health sustain from the Blood Artist, a bit of draw power off of the Altar's Reap and Duress for insight.

Deck discussion for Skirso daggins (Modern)

Commander's Authority is too slow, I've tried it. Up the Cartel Aristocrats and Lingering Souls by 1 instead? Bone Splinters is devastating indeed, but only in a heavy tokens/sacrifice deck, hehehe :) Duress is a strictly sideboard card, you need more focus on your creatures and removal to trigger morbid and, more importantly, achieve a better board position. Overall, I like it, it's pretty similar to a deck I had made some time ago.

I swapped the Bone Splinters for Doom Blades, removed the Duress and added the additional Cartel Aristocrats and Lingering Souls. Any other suggestions on how to improve the decks play? The advice is appreciated

Take out one land and put a fourth Doomed Traveler, they are really efficient and go very with Cartel Aristocrats and Blood Artists. You have mana fixing so you can afford it. Also, if you could get your hands on a Vault of the Archangel or two, you will notice how your drastically improves. It was this way for me, at least. What's more, add 3 Duress instead of 2 Erase + 1 Griselbrand in the sideboard. Grizzly is far too costly to get out with hardcasting, while Erase only hits enchants -after- the are into play, Duress hits more things before they even come into play. Just keep in mind that more than half of the cards rotate out of Standard after September, if that's what you are aiming for. Anyway, test the deck at the simulator here or even with proxies, it should be real fun :P

The Vault of the Archangel is a great idea but I unfortunately haven't gotten any :( I know majority of the cards fall out of standard in about a month coming but Innistrad has been one of my favorite sets :) but it will most likely be scrapped or vastly revamped when that time comes. Thanks again for the suggestions :)

No problem, I wish you good luck finding a Vault or two :) Oh, btw, you could drop by my decks; I'm currently playing around with some deck ideas that I've had for quite a while now but didn't have the time to sit down and run them through the simulator :P

Another couple of good cards that you could add to the deck are:

Vault of the Archangel: Make all of your little creatures big threats
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad: Pump out a little token every turn and then buff up your own creatures or get loads of theirs

Oh, yeah, Sorin; why didn't I think of him? He can be quite powerful in almost any W/B deck :P

Vault is a great idea thank you for the feedback :) unfortunately its not a card I have any of :(

That's fair enough. You can get it cheap online if you want. Just as a little thing for you to look at, I took your deck and made a few alterations. It might give you a few ideas on how to improve your deck.

Let me know what you think of the changes.

I think Avacyn and the Narcopolis Regent are a bit costly, I like the addition of the Increasing Devotion, I actually forgot that card existed till I saw it lol.

If I were to add Sorin this would be a great suggestion but I unfortunately don't have him :( Thank you for your input though :)

Can you explain why aristocrat is so good?

Can someone explain why cartel aristocrat is so good? I see a lot of people run it and i'm confused why.

Two reasons:
One, it's a bear that matches up the colors of a Lingering Souls deck.
Two, it's a two-mana cost sac outlet. Once you have 10 tokens, Cartel Aristocrat, and two Blood Artists, you win the game.

oh on a side note orzohv charm is better I think than tribute

2

Thank you for pointing that out, the health bump off of Tribute to Hunger is nice, but with the Blood Artist it proves a bit unnecessary. The 3rd use of it provides an extra Doomed Traveler as well :)

I would prefer to run tribute as it would better against decks with indestructible and hexproof creatures. Something that you see a lot of in the current standard metagame

The input is appreciated :) but I personally like the Curse

Question, would you rather have more positive reasons to sac for a Skirsdag trigger? If so give bubbling cauldron a try. Also, Tragic Slip > than Orzhov Charm, and it dispatches those annoying mana dorks rather quickly among other things.

I love slip I just like the fact charm gives you options plus you can bring back traveler for round 2 lol

most likely just scrap it sadly :( Innistrad has been my favorite set so far and from what i can see from spoilers the direction of this deck wont have the needed fillers to keep it viable

one more note not a huge fan of demonlord but not sure who to put in his place shadowborn demon?

0

Shadowborn doesn't really work as most of the creatures you control that are dying are are tokens and all the creatures you control are normally quite important

Desecration Demon over Demlonlord Ashmouth. You still get to trigger morbid because your opponent doesn't want a 6/6 flyer hitting them in the face. Or they don't and you have a 6/6 flyer hitting them in the face.
