Deck Description

Breaking Bad is a Modern combo deck that gets large creatures into the graveyard and then cascades into Breaking // Entering to use the Entering side of Breaking // Entering (yes, you can do this) to reanimate huge creatures on turn 3-4 with haste.

Deck discussion for Breaking Bad

I've got an interresting idea that I'm trying to spread.

You know me well, so of course it's a spam sent to everyone and their mother, but not everyone get a personel comment on top of their spam like you.

Consider that a privilidge

I hereby invite you to participate in a brand new trend in deckdesigning that might change the future of how to design decks.

Shortly told, there are two ways that new decktypes are made, the first is by designing something new, the second is by taking the best parts of two older decks, mix it together and you got a new decktype!!!

What I suggest is a turbo-version of mixing two different decktypes into a new one.

You simply split up existing designs into deckhalves (Called halfdecks) that are designed so that they keep as much of the origanal themes of a deck intact, and so that the half can be thrown together with almost any other halfdeck deigned in the future.

Splitting a deck up in two times 30 cards is not so easy as it sounds, so initially this trend will start out slowly, and if enough people adapt the idea it will probably explode into radical new decktypes made from decks designed with halfdecking in mind.

To get a better understanding of the concept you might need to take a look at the first 3 deckhalves I've made as examples. (Bear in mind that they were designed very roughly from memory)

I will improve these designs and add other deckhalves as fast as possible to start up the trend.

YOU, and everyone else that recieve this "spam" are welcome to start up your own version of this project, as it is intended to become everyones, and only by letting several minds work on it independently will it take on a better shape and spread out as a new deckbuilding tool.

Contact me at any time, with any questions you may have.

I only have one wish on how this new trend can be spread. If everyone involved tag their decks as halfdecks then the future halfdeck community may simply write halfdeck in the decksearching function to find what they are looking for!

I like this deck a lot. I was wondering about the lack of discard, but i pretty soon realized the cascade problem. But I guess between using breakings that you draw and using thirst for knowledge, you'll probably be okay. However, it leaves you not doing much in the early turns, which is an annoyingly difficult problem to solve. Been trying to find some spells that fix that, and it's very difficult. There's nothing really badass enough that cycles that rationalizes the cascade entering plan... If i think of something, i'll get back to you

You also seem to be taking some cues from living end decks, which is fine, but the reason that they run beast within is due to the nature of living end. I don't know if it's the right match here, especially in conjunction with the terastodons which do kind of the same thing.

I have been thinking about Beast Within, I will try out Compulsive Research or maindeck Jund Charm instead. If I had Liliana of the Veil, I'd use her.

I like the deck a lot now, I think the compulsive research was a good touch. Literally my only complaint is that it's hard to do things before turn 3.

Usually, it is easy to cascade, research, or thirst on turn 2 off of Simian Spirit Guide. And you can always cast Breaking. A deck doesn't need to do anything for the first few turns if it can turn the game right around on turn 3.

Since I realized that I can't afford Reflecting Pool, Griselbrand, and Breeding Pool, there have been some changes to the deck that I think work just as well. I also have replaced Compulsive Research with Unburial Rites and I am liking the change.

like the rites. But the deck is going to miss griselbrand a lot.

Yeah, Griselbrand will be going back in there to replace Terastodon as soon as I can get a hold of him.

Griselbrand is back. I am testing the BGw Rock matchup right now, and it has been going great.
