how do you avoid killing yourself through mana burn?

You should check the rules on that. It can be any number of creatures, but their total mana cost has to be six or less. As in, the sum of their converted mana costs has to be six or less. So, you could put 6 slivers in play if they all have converted mana costs of 1. Or put 3 slivers into play if their converted mana costs are all 2. It doesn't work like you think it does.

What do you mean get all slivers into play? You would only be able to get a couple with the hulk.

Creatures can also come by way of Ajani, Storm Herd, and Feudkiller's Verdict. Also, Celestial Convergence provides an alternate win condition.

This deck is a tribute to a casual deck I played against in 2002. It was very annoying. The only win condition is the Black Vise.
