How to Play

Presently the idea is to quickly produce green mana and pump up the Protean Hydras, followed by a swing with Overwhelming Stampede. Because this on average takes a while, the deck has various safeguards to help prolong the match and delay the opponent being too aggressive. My hope is to add additional Stampedes and Leylines to increase probability of this occurring faster and to increase sustainability through lifegain. Eventually, I want to explore cards that provide not stat boosts, but +1/+1 counters that can be moved (so as to help beef up the Hydras)

Deck discussion for Overramp

Take out the Rampant Growths and the Harrow, and the Explore. Replace them with some large creatures (Look at Craw Wurms and work your way up) *Edit* Make it a Hydra deck.

Some ideas for this deck:
I would remove Stag Beetle and Woodland Druid because someday you might want to take this deck to a local (modern) tournament and cant...because of those 2 cards.
As general rule try to concentrate on less different spells but use those 4-times. For example I would use 4 Rampant Growth, 3-4 [[Nissa's Pilgrimage]] and/ or 2-3 [[Ranger's Path]] as ramp spells.
A card that works very good with a high number of forest on the battlefield would be Dungrove Elder. Very hard to remove and a good defender as well as a hard-hitting offensive creature.
Primordial Hydra would also be a an option instead of Protean Hydra and I would definitely add 3-4 Rancor to make sure the damage your big creatures could deal aren't stopped by a simple 1/1 token. If you want to stick to Protean Hydra then you could take a look at Power Conduit to activate it's ability even if it didn't take damage this turn.
To protect your important creatures I would use [[Ranger's Guile]], Blossoming Defense or Vines of Vastwood.
With a high number of ramp spells you could think about adding some landfall-users: Groundswell (instead of Giant Growth) or Retreat to Kazandu.
Last things that you dont need every match and against each and every deck, like Naturalize, belong into the sideboard.

Greetings
Muktol

Holy crap, those are great recommendations, thank you! One of my first goals for growth was to add the additional Overwhelmings, since the deck hinges on that card, but I had never encountered Primordial Hydra. That's awesome!

Note to self: in its current state, this deck achieved its best possible play (or one of the best): Turn 5 win, with a 34/35 Protean Hydra swinging. Adding more copies of Vernal Bloom, Llanowar Elves, and Overwhelming Stampede will help make these results repeat frequently.

As is, this deck had a successful Turn 5 win, with a 34/35 Protean Hydra with Trample swinging. Adjustments will need to be made to ensure this can happen more frequently. Adding additional copies of Overwhelming Stampede and Vernal Bloom will help this.
