Starter Budget Series are meant for players who want to learn to play MTG while paying around the same price of an intro pack but with more value. These decks however, can be played by more skilled players and are definitely viable in semi competitive play (FNM, locals, etc.).Sideboards include other options for this deck, but will not be covered in the how to.
Jeskai ControlThe main mechanics of this archetype are to control the board, and deal some damage quickly while the opponent's guard is down. The control portion is well defined with 24 spells, (8 counter, 8 tempo, and 8 removal) and 4 creatures, (Wall of Denial). The damage portion is mostly coming from Thunderous Wrath, which wallops off 25% of their life (given they didn't gain any) and Spellheart Chimera, which gets bigger as we stop more of our opponent's plays. Lightning Bolt, although more intended as a defensive card, can also act as a finisher.Scry.Scrying helps us go through our deck and fix our draws so we can have better plays.Judge Unworthy and Voyage's End help to put Thunderous Wrath on top so we can deal 5 damage, or to draw us a crucial Judge's Unworthy or Prison Term, or prepare for a massive combo with Mana Leak.
