I agree that the lack of counter spells is a weakness of the deck but the 2 whirlpool merfolk are what makes the deck really work. I use the reejereys to untap my own lands. If I don't see one in my opening hand I use the warriors to draw a new hand. Once a reejerey and a banneret is in play most all of my other cards play for free. I use the aqutect's will and the adept's for draw and arctic merforks to bounce the adept to draw or the whirlpool creatures to get a new hand. Once I get 2 reejerey's in play I actually gain mana for each merfolk I play. by turn 4-5 I can have every merfolk in my deck on the battlefield. I have found that counter spells slow the deck down.
