My take on Squirrels. Ideally you can have the Earthcraft + Squirrel Nest engine assembled on turn 3; as long as you have at least one untapped creature (either from Chatter of the Squirrel or Essence Warden) you can immediately start the combo to generate as many Squirrels as you like. With Essence Warden out, Squirrels = Life. If for some reason having a lot of squirrels isn't enough for you, you can also make a really big Squirrel Mob. Building up Beastmaster Ascension is easy as well, and is an excellent answer to damage reduction mechanics. Fog, Acorn Harvest, Nut Collector, and Deranged Hermit are all less necessary; I have them in the deck as safety mechanics in case your combo fails.
