Deck Description

This is a burn deck, obviously revolving around guttersnipe. Faithless lootings are thrown in there to reach guttersnipes easier. Once turn 3 hits this deck becomes very quick and leave the opponent only 1 or 2 turns to live. (Especially with the new shock lands taking away at least 2-6 damage throughout the game when the opponents use them)

Deck discussion for Return of the Burn

I WOULD ADD 4 GILDED LOTUSES SINCE BLACK LOTUSES AREN'T IN STANDARD!

Not a fan of Brimstone Volley... To expensive for a 3 burn... Yeah if you can make use of the morbid mech but not consistent enough, I think there are better burn spell than that.

Anyway take a look at my deck and tell me what you with about it http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=361053

Thanks for the advice. I like the brimstone because I will only use when a creature dies and I can reverberate it for 10 damage. I think its a nice combo

arkillon12 Brimstone Volley is considered an amazing burn card and will continue to be used after Standard in Modern it's ability can always trigger if your doing it right. unfortunately Skidzinator your deck isn't comboing off this card and you should listen to arkillon12 and remove it for more Thunderous Wraith and zealous conscripts. don't get me wrong you have a great deck here but I as well as arkillon12 am seeing this problem.

i disagree, i think this deck utilizes brimestone just fine for 2 reasons.
1 vexing devil being sacrificed deals 4 damage then use brimestone for an additional 5 is nice 9 point hit for only 4 mana.
2 stromkirk noble and slumbering dragons are aggro magnets and get taken out quickly when ever possible. not to mention u want to keep attacking with stromkirk whenever possible. if it hits it gets bigger, if it dies Brimstone volley for 5.

Hmm... -1 slumbering dragon, +1 thundermaw hellkite. Increasing Vengeance can substitute for Reverberate. I would add volt charge to tag with the ring and slumbering dragon. Chandra, the Firebrand is a possibility. Hope this helps.

If I get a thundermaw I will def replace 1x slumbering with it, I like that idea. As far as the volt cahrge I like where you are going with it, I don't know if I would rather the 3 damage + prolif or 5 damage from brimstone. Plus volt charge is being cycled out.

I didn't say in my previous comment, but I do like the deck. Also could you take a look at my W/B Homicidal Seclusion deck (Forever Alone.)? Thanks and have a good week/end.

Pretty solid! I think you should:
Remove 1 Thunderous Wrath and 1 Reverberate.
Add in 2 Bonfire of the Damned (You need a good board control against aggros).
Based on experience, spells with Miracle are always best to maintain it at 2 at max. But if you have blue spells like Brainstorm / Dream Cache, then you may have it at 3.

Keep up the good work man!
Hope you could check out my deck too:

Are you trying to go budget with this? If you've got a few dollars to spare, I'd add 2 or 3 Koth, he's perfect for this and quite cheap. If money isn't a problem, you'll want some Thundermaw Hellkite and Bonfire of the Damned too. Also, Dangerous Wager is rather terrible, I'd definitely replace that with more aggro.

solid deck! though I agree with the user above me that Dangerous Wager is rather terrible. I think Wild Guess or Faithless Looting would be a much better option. :)

Use 4x Shrine of Burning Rage instead of the Ring until it rotates, trust me. You need the mid to late game reliability of Shrine, all the rings in m13 are just too slow for standard at the moment. Might see play in RVR but i doubt it.

Also, the slumbering dragons are useless against control decks.

i would take out and add

+2 geistflame (for use with shrine and to kill the key 1 drops like birds or blood artist)
+1 Reforge the soul, its worth play a 1 of as it is a godsend when red runs out of steam. Fills your hand and ruins your opponents sometimes.
+1 Bonfire of the damned. Worth playing 1 of because any more and you can't support it with enough mana if you draw it early.

The rings are good, as long as you choose a color thats not in your deck. This deck might benifit from the regen or hexproof rings instead

Can I ask why use reverberate over increasing vengeance? They both cost the same the first time to cast but lets just say for some reason the game goes on longer then expected (I know it doesnt happen often) then increasing vengeance is the better card isnt it? I just dont see any reason to use reverberate over increasing vengeance >.>

reverberate lets you copy any instant/sorcery spell... increasing vengeance lets you only copy your own.. meaning you can copy their manaleak to manaleak their manaleak...

Searing Spear would be a great replacement for Brimstone Volley. As for the Slumbering Dragon, trade it out for the Firewing Phoenix

geistflame is great because of all the excellent 1 drops in standard right now. Incinerate is pretty great too.

Flames of the firebrand is also really good and should at least be in your sideboard.

Opinions?

I've never understood why people would run reverberate instead of increasing vengeance, its the same initial cost/spell effect, but it has a late game duplication as well, my miracle deck run em and smashes face with em

Because you can copy opponent's spells with Reverberate.

Your opponent's miracles, kill spells, burn spells, counterspells, etc are also yours now. Situational, sure, but definitely game-winning often enough.

4x vexxxing devils is sweet, im with the faithless looting option, cheap card with flashback which comes in really handy and pisses your friends off, i use it in BOP decks that aren't even red
