Deck Description

Legacy deck (1.5)


Hatchlings from Eventide are 6/6 creatures that cost 4 to play, each one of them has one hybrid mana in the mana cost, so two of them are black, and can be played in a mono black deck. They're lifelink and wither.

Whatever happens on first turn, on second turn casting a hatchling would be really easy:
-turn one: swanp, turn two: swamp+ dark ritual or 2 mana land (Ancient Tomb ,City of Traitors) + cabal ritual or 2 mana land (Ancient Tomb ,City of Traitors) + chrome mox or dark ritual+ cabal ritual, and many others I guess.

that is with turn one draw, swamp, go.

Like other Stompies, it's fairly immune to Chalice since the mana costs are aroud 3-4. This deck is trying to take advantage of the 2 mana land by using casting costs B2, BB2, B3 or the likes, B being black mana.

The Dusk Urchin and the Skeletal Scrying may not be enough to draw, that is one fear...

against Burn : side in Chalice and Trinisphere.
against Threshold: side in Leyline, Chalice and Trinisphere
against elves, goblins, merfolk and WW: Engineered Plague , Chalice and Trinisphere
against survival of the fittest: Leyline, Chalice, Engineered Plague

those are the major archetypes I see where I play.

Deck discussion for Black Stompy Hatchling

Maybe I'm not understanding the point. As well, how do you plan on using Belligerent Hatchling without the appropriate mana? Not criticizing, just asking.

hatchlings are one black mana to play, the 2 mana lands provide the colorless, and the rituals, the boost.

Then, when one or more hatchlings are in play, a few rituals to fuel a Mind Shatter can be good, as well as Cranial Extractions to finish the job, once you've seen his hand with Thoughtseize.

All of this removing counters from them Hatchlings.

At the same time, Dusk Urchin is getting weaker, and he's going to replenish my hand. Also, my graveyard is getting bigger: let's draw with Skeletal Scrying since one of my hatchling has lifelink and since I have so much mana.

How do you play the Belligerent Hatchling with no red/white mana, Chrome Mox alone wont cut it. Also, with only 12 "stompy" creatures, all of which can be chump blocked until they are either destroyed or you're killed, you aren't going to see to many wins from this deck.

I think you linked the wrong hatchling card in your deck, you got Belligerent, and I'm guessing you want Voracious Hatchling? Since you're talking about lifelink I'm going to assume that's correct?
