Deck Description

Control deck that use the empire set of Crown, Scepter and Throne to win. Please comment! Any ideas are welcome, but please, i want to keep it creaturless, it´s the real challenge here.

Note:
I run only 2 copies of each Empire card, cause to much proves me to be unnecesary, and the deck with 4 copies of each turns very weak in defense factor.

11/07: Added 3 Isochron Scepter for Coldsteel Heart, and 4 Brainstorm for Careful Study.

14/07: Added 3 Silence and 1 more Counterspell, out 3 Absorb and 1 Path To Exile.

Deck discussion for Creaturless Control Type 1.5

Counterbalance is a little bit weak in here since the mana curve is pretty low. I would consider either adding ponders to try and help tutor your top card for it, or take out one or two and replace with another counterspell and someother form of control.

Yup. Ponder or brainstorm. Could always sub the counterbalance for isochron scepter. It would work better seeing as most of your spells are very low cost. Heck, you could even copy the ponder/brainstorm to it and zip straight thru your deck for a full throne. Seeing as your curve is so low you prolly don't even need the hearts and you could throw in the all powerful mana leak or boomerang...which could go on the scepter as well.

Isochron scepter is another way of control that i didn´t think about and is great! Also, i replaced Careful Study for Brainstorm like you suggest me, as SpippyTheInsane did (he said Ponder, but is almost the same thing). Tks for comment to both of you!

Sorry it's taken me a while to check this out, I've been challenged with transcribing a fusion song for guitar, so my mind has been fried the last two days.

The first thing I notice is that you're trying to win with the x of Empires stuff, and while that's fun, wouldn't Thopter Foundry and Sword of the Meek make more sense? I know that'd turn this into another variant of the much hated ThopterTop, but it's an honest thought.

Also, I can not tell you how powerful putting Silence or Orim's Chant on Isochron Scepter is. It's one of the most brutals things in magic. It'd allows you to have a better focus on the 1cmc slot, and gives you the time to setup mana for floating a three cost card if need be.

CounterTop has to be one of my favourite strategies in MtG, it's one of the first things I ran for Legacy. It, Reanimator, and Dream Halls combo will probably always have a soft spot in my heart.

Indeed, countertop is a great way of defense, and the Silence idea is great! But i don´t pretty sure what i could put out instead, if some form of counter like Absorb, or Removal like wog, path, etc. What do you think about it? I would put out the 3 Absorb, add one Counterspell, remove 1 Path to Exile, and add 3 Silence, but i´m not pretty sure about it. I don´t remove Oblivion Ring cause is the only way i can remove a permanent that isn´t creature if it came to play and coulnd´t counter it.

I think cutting the Absorbs would probably be the smoothest change for your deck, but to stay safe I'd try and find a way to keep ten in the three mana slot. It keeps it a bit easier for CounterTop in my experience.
