Deck Description

I saw Crypt Ghast spoiled and nearly wet myself. Best damn card I've ever seen. I took a page from the old Heartless Summoning decks of Innistrad and threw a new twist into the mix with even faster ramp with Ghast, Desecration Demon, and Necropolis Regent, for an unprecedented synergy and variety. Reaper from the Abyss with Desecration Demon discourages sacrificing tokens, and once they know you have Tragic Slips they won't be as likely to sacrifice either. The extort from Ghast and the lifelink/card draw from Griselbrand, as well as the card search from Ambition and occasional card draw from Harvester make this deck quite silly. I have actually won an FNM with this particular build though I think luck played a large part in it. Give it a shot, it's all kinds of fun and it really doesn't ever get old to drop 5 fatties in one turn.

If you want to build a budget version of this deck, all you really have to do is take out the griselbrands (though if you can drop the cash, he's BEYOND worth it) and replace them with Lord of the Void, a solid (if clunky) Gatecrash fatty.

How to Play

Turn one, probably nothing, though slipping their arbor elf is always enjoyable. If duress was sided in for a counter deck, look for some nasty counter and put it away. kind of worthless to do so if they run multiple snaps, though, but as long as you can reliably drop a turn 2 heartless summoning into a turn 3 crypt ghast, you're set.

A personal favourite path is 1: swamp, nothing, 2: swamp, heartless summoning, 3: swamp, ghast, desecration demon, 4: griselbrand extort 1, swing desecration demon, 5: swamp, necropolis regent, swing grisel and demon, increasing ambition for whatever looks good, extort 1, 6: swing a 12/12 grisel and 12/12 demon to win, or play whatever and extort. There is so much mana in this deck it's downright silly, and multiple ghasts wins games at unreasonable and terrifing speed. Once on turn 7 (he fogged twice so i couldn't win prior to this) I had griselbrand, 3 necropolis regents, 2 desecration demons, 2 reapers from the abyss, a nighthawk, and 3 crypt ghasts out. I was able to tap for 20 black and i won that turn by extorting a tragic slip on their creature and victim of night on my own ghast, mostly for style points.
