Deck Description

This deck is inspired by Rabble Bots by Zaklax13.

http://www.mtgvault.com/zaklax13/decks/rabble-bots/

All innovation credit should go to him. I just tweaked to make it work for me.

How to Play

This deck is all about getting the damage in quickly.
Ideally....
Turn 1: Mountain.... Ornithopter, Monastery Swiftspear
Turn 2: Island.... Ensoul Artifact Ornithopter.
There are several permutations of the first few turns to hurt the opponents' face, but the general gist is in all things, swing for the fences.
Hope you enjoy!

Deck discussion for I Like Big Bots

I love the addition of singing bell strike! Don't like thassa rebuff as much, we will just not have that much devotion. Maybe magma jets, disdainful stroke, or mindswipe. Its a really fun build I hope you like it. It is very competitive against abzan and jeskai, but we end up mulliganing alot, although it does so well. And you can run less lands!! 21 seems th best

Prophetic Flamespeaker looks like such an interesting card! I really need to make a deck that includes him.

Back to the subject at hand...

I see you went with Mindswipe in your version. Did you run into any mana issues? It looks like it could get expensive to cast.
I'm wondering if Disdainful Stroke would be an effective way to take their turn 4 spell away. If we are looking at win by around turn 7, when will we have enough open mana to cast mindswipe?

Magma jets is interesting for the scry feature. Having a touch of burn in there doesn't hurt either. Its the good aspect to mindswipe too.
I was wondering if there isn't a way to increase the speed with some kind of card draw.
What do you think?
Bident?

Bident is good! I have stubborn denial, mindswipe, swan song, negate, and disdainful stroke post sideboard. I think we need to have a lot available. Our goal is to get a bit beater out and protect it

I need to keep the pressure on. This deck has to be fast, right? The beater is key...
Hmm... ok. Counterspell + damage = Mindswipe. I get it now why you had it in.
I'm recalling my rebuff and putting the Mindswipe back in.

Ok. Thassa, God of the Sea makes our dude unblockable plus gives us scry. seems good.
I think we need some kind of draw to keep pressure on.

Best case scenario is to draw a card while performing a useful function and cheap.
Here are the draw spells I found that seemed interesting.

Dragon Mantle: 1 mana, 1 draw, increase beats.
***Quick, cheap, may be the best

Bident of Thassa: 4 mana, Multiple draw, force attack.
***4 mana is big for this deck, great upside though

Crippling Chill: 3 mana, 1 draw, single target sleep
***Like a weaker Singing Bell Strike that costs more

Divination: 3 mana, 2 draw
***Good draw, no other benefit

Fate Foretold: 2 mana, 1 draw, death =2nd draw
***Cheap, has synergy with scuttling doom and unimproved ornithopter. creature death is bad.

Font of Fortunes: 2 mana, 2 mana: sac to draw 2
***Cheap, can sac at any time.

Force Away: 2 mana, ferocious: draw 1 discard 1, unsummon
***Ferocious works, cheap, tactical, could help treasure cruise

Military Intelligence: 2 mana, attack with two to draw 1.
***Better with Rabblemaster or tokens. 2 for 1 is still good, cheap

Ordeal of Thassa: 2 mana, draw two after
three +1/+1 counters.
***ok damage increase, slow development for card draw

Treasure Cruise: 8 mana, draw 3, delve.
***Way expensive, too long developing? graveyard could be stocked with scuttling doom, shrapnel blast, ornithopter,
mindswipe etc., May be too late for fast win though.

Stratus Walk: 2 mana, , draw 1, gives flying & only block flyers
***Cheap, Tactically intriguing. Give their blocker flying to allow scuttles through? Blocking is secondary for us, right?

Weave Fate: 4 mana, draw 2, instant
***Divination as an instant for 1 more mana.

Zaklax13, which do you like?

btw...stubborn denial is perfect for this deck!

I added 3 stubborn denials, reduced land and reduced the chief engineer by 1 (to a total of 3) to add the bident.

Ordeal of thassa is a good way to make use of an ornithopter if we don't have an ensoul or ghostfire blade

true! good thought! hmm. ok. What to ditch or reduce?
Bident is nice but maybe too slow at 4 mana?

Edit: Added 3, reduced mindwipe to 2 and stinging bell strike to 3 and removed bident.

Ok I like that. I'm trying to make cuts to add three ordeal to my deck

Other than the Goblin Rabblemaster just being an all around stud, is there a purpose for him? Is it for Convoke with the Chief Engineer in play?

Yes that is one reason. Another is it forces your opponent to choose between targeting rabblemaster or targeting your 5\5 ensouls. One way or another you end up pushing through more damage

crap. maybe that belongs too....

I have 5 counterspells running maindeck.
What should I consider for sideboard?
Crypsis?
Barrage of Boulders?
Scouring Sands?

Seems like white and red produce a bunch of 1/1 tokens.
I wish Swerve was in standard.

After some simulated draws, i think maybe i don't have consistent early pressure like I want. Thinking Monastery Swiftspear could help.

Also, What's the thought of the phyrexian revoker?
Is there a particular card or strategy that it protects against? or is it mostly there as a cheap artifact?
In short, Is it better here than the Rabblemaster?

Ok. made some revisions to power it up.
Sideboard = counters?

Revoker is nice because it can turn off elvish mystic, savage knuckleblade, any planeswalker, sylvan carityad, etc. It has one me games naming polukranos too. And you can ensoul it!

good good. Dagnabbit
Gotta revisit it... maybe put it back.
Looking at putting 3 in as a utility player.... either in sideboard or main. Could use ideas for what to cut.
It is occurring to me that the more revisions I make, the more it ends up looking like your original idea.
Full circle, circle of life, ring of fire and all that.
Anyway, your idea was damn good.
Should i go public with this one?

Out of all the draw you mentioned you didn't mention tormenting voice .....I've been running robots since the set drop and I've topped 8 all the fnm I've played and topped 32 a tcg diamond event with it....I run tormenting because really once you hit 4-5 lands you don't need any so pitch them draw two and instead of rabble I run generator servant it's allowed me to turn three a doom engine with haste just passing on my experience its a really fun deck to play no matter the build

Yea I agree with brickagoblin Tormenting Voice would be a great draw source. You could try Fate Foretold put it on Scuttling Doom Engine to draw a card then use Shrapnel Blast sacrifice engine to deal 11 damage and draw another card with it.
