Deck discussion for Black Sac (Please Help)

My main question is can will-o'-the-wisps regenerate from sacrificing?

nope, you can't regen from sacrifice...

Darn! Any ideas of what to put in it's place then?

well, i think i would replace fumespitter with Festering Goblin - both cost (B) and is 1/1... but goblin gives -1/-1 to target creature when he is put in your graveyard... fumespitter you need to sac it to itself for its ability does that...

maybe a dark ritual if you're planning on a quick entry of your DoDG...

but thoose cards are not standard if that's what you're going for

Hmmm… I think I'll take your advice on both of those, do you think I should take out unearth for dark ritual, or something else?

I second the Fumespitter. I would suggest dropping the Reassembling Skellys for a set of Dark Rituals.

Otherwise this deck looks great!

Alright! Festering Gob it is! Now, I know I haven't tested it yet but I think the skellys are pretty good… IDK but if you could tell me your reasons further that would be awesome.

The Skellys are always to me geared more toward control than aggro, and they're just slow. Dark Rituals will help to speed this deck up a lot.

And I meant that you should take out the Goblins for Fumespitters.

i'm curious (and trying to learn here) - why do you like the fumespitters over festering goblins, when you dont take format into account? isn't it more or less the same ability they have, where one doesn't need to sac to itself, to give the -1/-1 ?

festering is just until end of turn, fumespitter is a counter… and the more I think about it I think I'm going to go with fumespitter.

must have miss-read fume spitters then :) thnx for pointing it out

Thanks! And yeah, pawn is a great help. I'll check it out but I think I already left a comment. I'll leave another though!

Well built deck, i'm not really a fond of Grave Pact cuz it takes a while to cast and until then i'd have sacrificed pretty much every creature that came in my hand, but the Dark Rituals are really useful to make it an early game cast (besides making it much quicker to cast DoDG). Well done.

Thank you! Grave pact is a little slow but if I feel like it I can get it out turn 2 with dark ritual. I still haven't tested it yet though.

I would go with virulent swipe over tainted strike. Virulent swipe gives you, +2 +0 creature gains deathtouch with rebound.

I went with tainted strike for a turn 2 win with DoDG and for bloodthrone as another way to win, but I might consider it.

I'm sorry, but I can't resist. Your deck is called black sac. :P

Hahahaha sorry for the immaturity, but I couldn't help myself.

Well what should I call then? When fluffy bunnies attack? Or what? :-)

I like the bunnies one. Run with it and don't look back.

But in the area of suggestion, Nether Traitor would fit right in this deck. Like.. it was meant for this deck.

Wow I like that card. But the next question is what to take out?

0
Posted 27 January 2011 at 11:45

Umm.. I would maybe take out unearths. By that because you'll have 8 creatures that regen themselves without the use of other instants/sorceries. i think that'd be enough regen since they're not even your main creatures of the deck. The point is to get out DoDG, not regening the small guys. Correct me if I'm wrong.

0
Posted 27 January 2011 at 11:47

Well, I do like the small guys I was thinking i'd move the grave pact.

0

Grave Pact in a sacrificial deck is basically a must. It's the only removal you have so maybe you could sideboard the Grave Pacts out if you're facing a minimal creature deck, but I would keep them in for sure.

I'll think about it. Thanks for the help!

Now that I think about it I think I'll pull the tainted strikes for nether trator.

0

Oh, and I like Virulent Swipe for this deck more than Tainted Strike. You're not running infect so why not just get death touch for two turns instead of infect for one for the same mana cost.

0

It's for bloodthrone and DoDG. But now that more people are suggesting I might do it.

Hah, sorry for not just putting this all in one comment. Uhh, Crypt of Agadeem MAYBE. I don't know how well it'd work, but if it doesn't work in a sacrifice deck, I dunno what it would work in. And then fetch lands. 4x Marsh Flats and 4x Verdant Catacombs. It gets you a land and it makes it so you don't draw in to lands when you don't want to as much by taking those lands out of the deck. Yes, it costs you a life but this deck is quick enough to get over that bridge. ;-)

0

I don't think the crypt would work. I don't really have many fetch lands to spare but I'll put my 1 marsh flats in.
