A Simic-Graft-based deck with a couple of additions, including Protean Hydras and a few newer spells to make a truely nasty beatdown deck. Play-tested and proven to be both a fun and formidable deck. The deck is also fairly inexpensive (which is a relative term, I know). It cost me around $40 to build. Strategy (Which shouldn't really need any explaination...): For those of you who haven't played graft or seen it played, the goal is to play your Initiates, Spiders, and Frogs early so that anything you play afterward is formidable (such as the Assault Zeppelids). Usually you shouldn't graft onto other graft creatures because the more graft creatures you have, the stronger you can make something else when played. (The ability to play a 7/7 flying trample Assault Zeppilid on turn four is what makes Simic strong.) Protean Hydra cynergizes unbelievably well with Novijen Sages, and if you can't get that out, the Root-Kins will offer a good, if more expensive alternative until you can. Protean Hydra is more of a utility in this deck than an attacking creature, mostly used to draw cards and offer a great defense. It may help to wait on playing Plaxcaster Frogling, because he tends to be a really big target for kill spells, so make sure you have enough mana left after playing him to give him shroud, or he'll be wasted easily. Also Voidslimes, because, well, they're VOIDSLIMES! You might also notice Mirrorweave. In this deck, use it to make everything a copy of a graft creature. Anything without +1/+1 counters, or enchantments like holy strength, will instantly die because they are rendered as a natural 0/0. In essence, Mirrorweave is a 1-sided wrath of god at instant speed, that bypasses indestructibility, persist, and regeneration, leaving you with all the creatures and your opponents with no answers.
