Deck Description

I created this deck for fun on FNM to try something not really in the most popular meta. Rogues get through for ciphers as Nighthawk and Fog Bank serves for defense. Crypt Ghast will boost my mana to play more ciphers and creatures. Removal or creature limiting spells include Hand of Binding, Murder, and Agoraphobia. Against a none creature deck, Cremate and Dissipate can be subbed in with either Way of the Thief or Lord of the Void to boost damage. Rapid Hybridization is there for added creature removal, but I'm not 100% on choosing it.

How to Play

It's kind of basic. No complex combos really. Throw ciphers on rogues FTW plus a bit of control and removal options.

Deck discussion for Rogue Cipher

Pretty cool little build here, although i think you can get something better than shadow slice, especially with its mana cost, maybe stolen identity, either copy your own creatures or your opponents...hmmmm well if you wanna go an original way i have a cool idea, try adding biomass mutation, with crypt ghast you can get alot of mana pumped into it and make all your unblockables really powerful. :p

So I played some at FNM tonight. I got there late so I just played a few time vs junk reanimate with serenity, thrag, some mana ramp and a few other pretty powerful creatures. I think I might play some negates in here on side board. I ran into a lot of exile when an opponent creature came into play. Maybe add some Tormod's Crypt for graveyard hate. I'm definitely thinking about trying stolen identity. vs thrag and reckoner and other bigger creatures, but it's just so expensive. If i can get a crypt ghast out on turn 4, I had problems with too much mana and no cards. I had fun with the deck and will look to modify it for next week.

The best hand to start with was a few mana, inv stalker and 2 bindings vs reanimte. Lock down those mana ramp creatures to slow them down a bit. From there the really only issue I ran into was my creatures being exiled when serenity came into play.

I have a deck similar to this (main difference being mine splashes white where yours stays all black/blue) where "tormented soul" and "invisible stalker" are used to cipher spells to win.

I use "Consuming Aberration" and "Talrand, Sky Summoner" in the deck so that whenever my cipher goes off Consuming Aberration mills them until i hit x lands and/or Talrand. Sky Summoner puts in x 2/2 blue flying drake tokens where x is the number of cipher spells i have on my creature that hit them.

Also, look into "Hidden Strings" from the new set that is coming out. It is tap or untap target permanent then tap or untap another target permanent; cipher. turn 2 cast it, untap your 2 lands and cipher it onto tormented souls (if you are running it) -> cast another 2 mana spell, -> swing untapping your two lands again and cast another 2 mana spell.
