This was for a themed deck challenge, he wanted vampires and a replacement for Griselbrand. Mono black or black red, I went mono black.

You might also consider Blood Artist or Requiem Angel, after all Requiem Angel will get you spirit tokens if any of your non-spirits die (your gather the townsfolks and the Hero of Bladehold's spawns), and Blood Artist... well then he'll be scared to kill your tokens. Similarly, Mentor of the Meek could help you with card draw. As could Altar's Reap, but that takes creatures whereas Mentor rewards you for putting in creatures. Champion of the Parish could become a big creature for you too. Also, while I see you have Go for the Throat and Tragic Slip, what you might be lacking is defense against other non-creature threats. Oblivion Ring and Paraselene (sideboarded) would be good additions, and while you'd probably want to avoid a Wrath, perhaps a Terminus might not be an awful idea.
As an alternate condition, you could also grab Laboratory Maniac and leave the torpor orb out, if you can get Lab Maniac and Leveler out, you win.
Couple of questions: Why Elgaud Inquisitor instead of Doomed Traveler? Why Falkenrath Torturer instead of Village Cannibals? Just some thoughts about optimizing your options, because if you're going to be sac'ing humans, they may as well be cheap and help someone else automatically without triggering it.
In addition to your lumberknot, why not throw in ghoultree? If you're killing off your own creatures, they'll be in your graveyard and that's a pretty cheap 9/9 (due to death's hold)
What about Curse of Bloodletting? Also, Altar's Reap might help you if you're in need of more cards and as an outlet for your Traitorous Blood if you don't want to fling it.
Or for a cheaper alternative, ranger's guile. Sure no life gain, but it's a cheaper spell and can give a crucial +1/1
